    Angus Heifer Progression

I definitely like her more as she matures. Has a really big bodied sound look to her.

    County Fair pics!

Congratulations, really do a great job with those steers. We will have to get together soon and plan for next year.

Shorthorns role in the cattle industry

Making shorthorns relevant is an interesting subject. You have already made the right step by entering into the multibreed database. That helps a bunch. What you should learn from this is that you are way behind on growth. All of the traits you are talking about are very good. Too bad there are...

    Baby Calf Photos

Most of the cows we used him on were char x, just a few mostly red angus. Birthweights were in the 70's so hard to fault him there at all. I like the way the calves look and these might be the easiest feeding steers and the easiest keeping females we will have!

    show type?

Thats a nice steer, the nice thing about him is you know he will feed well. If you cut him now you won't have any problems.

    Baby Calf Photos

Here is the link to his sire: http://cattlevisions.com/bull_detail.php?BullId=3565 He looks like just another club calf bull but my friend knows the owner and sent me a couple candid older photos of him and I feel he is so sound and good he even would have application in the commercial world...

when did judges stop feeling steers

I handle the steers I judge. If they are too wild by county fair time for me to get my hands on them then they are at a disadvantage.

    GVC Suh cow

That is a good cow, really like her. I would breed her char

    Char cross heifer we raised

This is the same heifer and she is reserve champion crossbred heifer at her county fair. I'm told the heifer who beat her was very good, hairy, and a little more "clubby." Doesn't bother me one bit, I just have to point out this heifer doesn't have a lic of clubby blood in her and was bred for...

    Char cross heifer we raised

Thanks for the comments, she is already sold and that picture came from her new owners. Although I'm sure I could ask them if they would consider selling her. I do however have 180 babies on the ground that are bred similar and we still have about 80 yearling heifers ready to breed.

Not used to it. Plus most of our range is 10-12 inches annual precip. We do have a seperate place that gets closer to 18 though. We did double our carrying capacity with HRM and perennials, it would be interesting to toy with some annuals.

My family has been doing this style of management on rangelands since the late 80s. I like his idea of cover crops but not sure we could pull any farming off. You should subscribe to graze magazine, he has an article in it each week.

Fall PB Angus bull calf opinions

He looks nice, not to be a spoiler but I have to point out that his sire is a half sib to Mytty in focus... not that I care I'm just saying.
