    Proud Mom! n/c

Speaking of the livestock judging, she made her first trip to the big contest Saturday, the state contest at Purdue.  Needless to say she was the smallest one there in size and age.  The good thing is the first time jitters are out of the way.  VERY tough competition.

    Proud Mom! n/c

Caitlin had her 5th grade talent show/graduation tonight and she wanted to sing in the talent show.  I had my reservations about how it would go because this is the same kid that 4 years ago wouldn't even get up in front of church with a group without crying and having to leave the stage.  She...

    keeping records

We use Cattlemax.  I wouldn't use anything else, it keeps breeding records, semen records, nearly everything you would want.

    Daily Summer Care

So when can I bring Caitlins heifers up?  (thumbsup)

    Clubby Angus.

I think numbers alone made for a lot of ugly cattle in the Angus breed, slab-sided and cat-assed was the way one cattleman put it.  If you can't stand to look at the cattle, to me, numbers aren't very helpful.  There isn't a cow today as functional and pretty as the old Blackbird, Forever Lady...

    My Turn

I still have it, I haven't even called them yet.  I discovered it this weekend when we were breeding.  We had ordered about 7 different bulls and there was the My Turn, an angus and some simmental bulls.  Since My Turn was the only one that the number started with XX I didn't look as close.  The...

    Conception rates on Sexed Semen

I absolutely agree with this.  Last year we used the tattletales on some of the cows and heifers.  Everyone that was bred 4 to 6 hours after the last stand stuck, We got 12 out of 15 AI'd, we used the tattletales on 8 of them and got all 8 of them stuck.

    My Turn

Didn't matter anyway, when I pulled the cane out of the shipper, the idiots had sent me Jimmy The Greek and not the My Turn!!!  Glad I read the straw and just didn't go by the top of the cane!

Need a calving ease ai bull!!!!

I tried Northern Lite last year on heifers because of the added bonus of them being registerable and LOVE the calves, very stylish and the heifers had absolutely no trouble, skinny little noodles when they were born.

    My Turn

Show me a site with his registration number.  Better yet, when you do a search of Heat Seeker progeny and type in his birthdate, there is no bull registered under him.  There is one named My Turn but it is a different birthdate and doesn't show Hook as the owner

    My Turn

Is My Turn registered or not???  Wish I had thought to ask that before I bought some because I would have like to have something registerable.

    Kentucky Derby

The thought I have is that I REALLY wish I had made my $5 bet on Mine That Bird a Win Place or Show instead of just a show bet.  Still won $129 though.  I think if Calvin rides him again in the Preakness he could have a shot if he kicks earlier.  He still wasn't leading at the 16th pole in the...

    Fly Tags

The best tags I have found are the Python Magnum tags and then alternate the next year with the Warrior tags.  We used the Magnum for years and the cows just aren't bothered by the flies.

floating teeth without license illegal in OK

The bad thing is, the people who aren't vets do a better job on floating teeth than the vets in our area.  If we had to wait on a vet to do everything we do to our own horses and cattle they would all be dead.  There just aren't enough large animal vets to go around.

    Question for Simi breeders

All of our Dreamcatchers have been 75-90 pounds and the cows had them with no problems at all.  I don't have any dream on calves so I can't comment about them.  Our dreamcatchers don't have the stoutness that is advertised about him, the heifers have been stylish and pretty to look at but the...

    Little help please!

Probably doesn't like the halter staying tight on her head.  Until she is broke and will follow you without you havign to pull, use a halter that has a ring so when you let off the pressure is immediately relieved on her chin.  She should stop fighting pretty quick.
