    heat detection strips

A lot of it also is making sure you have put them in the correct location, too far forward and the shorter cows won't rub it, too far back and the tailhead blocks it from getting contact also.  On cows that you can easily get your hands on the tattletales work great.  Kind of like a...

Mine love heels off of bread and peppermint candy, and NO THEY AREN'T SPOILED!!!  ;D ;D We even have one that will stick her head right in the truck  window if she sees powdered donuts.

    Grizzly?

Ranchhand has worked well for us.  The only thing I can pick about is that he does not add any bone at all but they are all alive and the mommas are fine and that is what counts

    WHO EPD

I have.  It was on a heifer that was bought from a sale that was bred to Who.  She was a simangus cross but seeing how she was purchased and not raised who knows what she really was.  The calf though was 125# heifer and both the cow and calf died.

    Majors Money Man

Trust me Knabe, I am not ignoring you, you are way above my head as far as intelligence goes and I don't always understand what you are talking about.  That is right, I am not afraid to admit when I don't understand something! ;D

    GAY MARRIAGE IN IOWA

Get on Ancestry.com sometime.  You would be surprised at how closely you are related to some people.  They offer a 30 day free trial.  I found out that my husbands parents were third cousins, explains a lot!! :o

    snoring

Just like a fat person, get some thickness around the neck and they will snore.  We had a cow that was allergic to fescue and every summer she would have a plugged up nose and "snore" for about two months.

    War Eagle

We used him back a couple of years ago before all the TH and PH came about and got some nice bull calves, no heifers though so I couldn't tell you about that.  Nothing exceptional, just adequate.

    Walks Alone

Was it just me who noticed how many "typo's" there have been in a few of the semen catalogs regarding TH/PH status?  Makes me wonder how many people who didn't know better got carrier calves and then were told tough luck when they wanted their money back on the semen?

    Help

Zach, Zach, Zach, don't come to my house or you will see the WOMAN cutting the calves.  I wouldn't use a band on a bet.  When I worked at the vet hospitals it was always the men who were banding animals, because they didn't have the cajones to cut them themselves.  I cut, my husband tails them.

    steer roaching back

Sounds like the hoof trimmer is leaving too much toe or taking too much heel.  Check with some show horse people in your area, you would be surprised at how many horse chiropracters are around, they just don't advertise.  We have one that works on our cattle all the time, after leaving the...

    Need help- grafting a calf

If you can't rub the afterbirth on the cow then catch some urine from the cow and pour over the calf.  That will also help get her smell on it but the most important is getting the cows milk in the calf for her smell to come through.  Put the cow in the chute for it to milk at first or the calf...

Bad day of halter breaking (pics)

A ring halter that will loosen as soon as you let off should cure that.  I was breaking a steer that did that last year and he got completely confused when he would feel the pressure, get built up to throw himself down and than all of the sudden there wasn't any pressure under his chin.  You got...
