    New show-ring Simmentals

My vote for "show ring" appeal from the calves I've saw and have on the ground would be Chopper and Yardley Utah.  Waiting for a few Wide Tracks

which bull to use for calving ease to make a show heifer

I think all three are good options.  I really like the Uno Mas calves I've seen.  Nothing mind blowing, but solid small calve that appear to make some pretty good mama's.

    Yardley Utah calf pics?

Anyone have any pics of Yardley Utah calves?  A friends sent me some and I'm pretty impressed I can't get them to download off my phone.  Pretty cool looking for sure.

    Best Simmental Bulls right now

Heifers and making good mamas - Grandmaster hands down Commercial or beef makers - Upgrade.  We raised two Upgrades last year that gained more than any calf we have raised before on very minimal feed. Weanling and yearling weights were off the chart.  Ended up BIG.  Both had 17 inch plus rib...

    Two Tone

I have to chime in here.  I have been around 5 Two Tone steers and I'm telling you they were the craziest, meanest, take you out calves I ever been around in my life.  All were out of puppy dog gentle cows.  Coincidence?  Maybe, but the common denominator was their sire was Two Tone.  They were...

    Cummins 6.7L

Restrictions have the diesels so "chocked" up now a days, it's not like pre-2006.  Thats why there are people getting $30K plus on 2004-2006 Dodge Cummins with over 100K miles or more in my area.  They are highly wanted. My cousin (who is a bachelor and has more toys than anyone I know) has a...

    twins question

I know there is a lot of info on here about the freemartin question.  Do a quick search.  Unfortunately, statistics show less than 10% are fertile or something like that.  During growth in mama, the male testosterone flows through both calves sterilizing the female anatomy.  The girly parts are...

    Cleaning white

I will second liquid Oxy clean and then a final wash with Sullivans bright lights or whatever it is called.

    New cow

Show heifer or steer I would go Chopper.  We have one this year and I love, love, love this calf.  For maternal or baby maker, I say Grandmaster.

    First Calf Charolais Heifer

Live calf, Live calf, Live calf. I'm going to say heifer safe red angus.  I am intrigued by the functionality of the red angus / char crosses.  Hoping Tyler from Mill Iron A livestock pipes in.  He has a tremendous group of Char / Red angus cows that are making great steer mamas.

    MAB semen

No kidding!  I don't want to screw anyone over, but I also dont want to give it away.  I've heard / read everything from he is done, to he's just recovering from an injury.  I just want a fair price as my kids actually own it.

    MAB semen

So the magic question.  What is it worth?  I have 5 original MAB straws I bought Nov. 2013. Have no more plans of using him.  My semen rep told a few people that I have it and some want it.  They keep asking how much?  I see it's $200 on most distributors?

    Using a donkey

So it's been a few years but we use to use a donkey for the "tough" ones. Our old AG teacher / FFA instructor actually owned her and loaned her out to us. I feel there is a difference between a tractor and a donkey.  A tractor or ATV is simply overpowering them physically.  A Donkey also can do...

    upgrade birthweights

I've only had a handful of Upgrade calves and they all came bigger than I wanted.  I definitely would not use him on heifers.  But I love him to make some dandy eating steers! My daughter's 4-H steer (Upgrade X Powerdrive cow) won our tiny county fair carcass of merit contest.  Had a 17.36 in...

    Solid Gold calf...trouble breaking

I hate to be a downer, but last year I was posting almost the exact same scenario with a Two Tone calf my daughter had.  Despite just about every trick in the book including sending her to friends and different atmospheres, it NEVER worked out.  I think the key is are they "scared" or are they...

What would you flush this FRICTION X PB CHAROLAIS cow to ...

I'm the last guy to listen to, but I like: Smoking Bob, or one of Horn's bulls like Solid Gold or his son "Monster".

    New heifer

I like your thinking on breeding, but I would go with A Step Up's daddy Grandmaster for her first calf until everyone finds out what A Step UP really looks like for calving.  I dont think I've ever had a Grandmaster more than 75 pounds out of some big cows.  Up and running, vigorous little...

    Simmy Breeding Options

My daughter just picked up her steer for 2015 and is a Chopper out of a Grandmaster cow.  I'm going to vote Chopper all the way.  Should also almost be guaranteed a chrome face.  Wide top, moderate, and very gentle.

    Chopper or Bandwagon

My daughter just picked up her steer for 2015 fair.  He is a Chopper out of a Grandmaster PB simmy cow.  Love, love this calf.  Wide top, moderate, some hair, gentle as it gets. Chrome panda bear type face.  Thinking about using him a bunch next spring.  Pics to come.
