our FFA adviser used to use aspirin, (cattle sized) said it helped them not feel the stiffness, i think you answered your own question, just walk him before the show. its cheap. it will help get the edge off both of you.

we leave ours on, but definitely tie a knot right at the cheek so it cannt tighten too much or they cannt rub it off. obviously checking it every time is also really important. we use it to catch them the first couple weeks then tie to eat. after that they should be good enough to get close...
