up to 150,000 dead cattle in South Dakota

My heart and prayers go out to those who lost their livestock in the terrible storm. But don't count on any relief from the government in any form.  We lost several thousand cattle last year in the wildfires of SE Oregon.  Especially the Barry Point fire near Lakeview OR and the large fire out...

    Flushing Angus Cow...Any Suggestions?

Just going to throw this out there, but we bred two heavy New Design bred heifers to Grandmaster simmy bull (both had heifers) and they consistently are picked out by others as the top calves in the field.  Will try to get pics asap. I'm making momma cows, so if you are looking show string or...

    Head Up

So my kids are tiny and that has always been a problem with them.  Poor kids are worn out trying to keep heads up in the ring.  Probalby comparable to us holding a bowling ball in one hand above our shoulders for several mins.  The one thing that helps us a lot is work in the barn.  Tie their...

    MAB or Dakota Gold?

Thanks for the help.  All the looking I didn't realize Dakota gold is so new! For some reason was thinking he was older.  I guess time will tell, I see a couple folks talking about using him and getting his semen.

    MAB or Dakota Gold?

Boy, I am really wanting to dabble this spring with some colored sires and like what I read on both MAB and Dakota Gold over and over again.  Would be using on mainly Ang/Simmy cows and some Ang/Herf black baldy cows.  Any recommendations or calf reports that might sway me one way or another?

Has Anyone Used Texas Trophy Hunter?

Hey neat looking calf. Does TTH have a lot of hair?  I don't know anything about his listed dam and sire.  Thanks for the pics.  It's nice to see calves from newer / different bulls.  Looks like he worked.

Wow! Nice bunch of calves.  Just curious I see a lot of Unstoppable calves.  Is this from experience or something you tried and had good success this last breeding season?  They all look really good.  Good luck!

    Calf Pictures

The Two Tone calf has already been named and heading to a happy 10 year old girl here in SE Oregon hopefully next month. She is driving me crazy. Calf 194 also heading this way for her brother. Take the time to check out the Facebook page.  Tyler and Mill Iron A Livestock have some killer...

Kid's 4-H steers with pics - comments welcome

No kidding.  Maybe a month or two break and it all starts over.  Kids are pretty set on trying to get another calf from Mill Iron A livestock again.  The white steer did need some more finish, but judge and others complimented that he was the most "correct" steer at the fair.

Kid's 4-H steers with pics - comments welcome

Thanks everyone!  My wife was crying / so excited she did not take very good pics of the final drive.  I ended up being the ring steward for judge (Dick Hubman).  Our 4-H market steer classes are broke down by weight.  We had lightweight, middleweights and heavyweight.  I can't remember the...

Kid's 4-H steers with pics - comments welcome

So our Labor Day fair is over. Kids did a great job.  White steer ended up weighing in at 1345 and took Res. Grand Champ market steer of the fair.  My little girl's Hereford (her first year) ended up weighing in at 1355.  She was placed in the middle of the class for market, but she made it to...

    Getting cow hides tanned

herfluvr, What did it end up costing? I know it's by the linear foot.  I've used Moyle on a lot of critter hides.  They do a great job.

Like the Alias calf.  A silver Alias steer just won my neighboring county's fair.  Was super impressive.  Nice pics and congrats on getting them all sold.

    New pictures of 4h calves

So what does the tag say?  Protein, Fat, fiber %?  And how much (pounds) are you feeding?  I will say this over and over again.  I am a FIRM believer in Diamond V yeast products or a comparable brand.  A bag goes a long way and since we have been using it, I have never had a calf bloat and never...
