    Troubadour x Foreplay Son

I like his thickness, amount of bone and levelness of top.  My only concern (and it may be the angle) is his point of shoulder.  He looks a little bolder than I would prefer.

    Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus

Oh, I live about 35 minutes NW of Monroe, so we are practically neighbors.

    Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus

Nice looking calves.  Where are you located?

    Shorthorn Heifer

Duncraggon, that is indeed corn (maize)  In Wisconsin, and most of the U.S. we are in the middle of severe heat and drought conditions.  Those leaves are curled up on themselves attempting to preserve moisture.

    monopoly and tiger woods dead?

Yanno, If I worked for the USDA, I would be pretty careful about saying I was willing to illegally import/export ag pproducts of any type, especially on a public forum. ;)

    Shorthorn bulls of the 80s

Was the Spotlight calf a Byland deal?  Trying to remember the names of a couple of painted up bulls they had back then.

    Checking cattle photo

I feel your pain frostback.  Here in southern Wisconsin we are desperately dry.  It looks like a lot of the corn is already firing, and will be a total loss.  Our pastures are about done, and we have used up all our carryover hay.  Official high temp of 104 yesterday, and the local bank had 109...

    Best Steer Ever

Brock May's blonde steer that won the Royal in 2005?  Was great as a calf, champion prospect in Denver, and great as a fat.

    When to castrate?

We castrate a lot at weaning time, as we wait to see which bulls will be kept intact.  Usually we also remove the bottom of the scrotum, then crush the cords with an emasculator, like what is used to dock lamb tails.

Best type of breed, or animal to use as a milk cow?

My great uncle always said Jerseys were for people too poor for cows, and too proud for goats. ;D  I would definately look to a Jersey tho,

Wut a work in progress-this calf is a clown

We had 2 calves we raised out of him.  This cow was out of a Highler 202 cow, about 1400 pounds, frame 6.  Born the right shape but about 100 pounds.  We also raised a bull out of a Guiness cow, about 1500, frame 6.  He was probably 110+, born unassisted.  He was also the single easiest doing...

Wut a work in progress-this calf is a clown

Back in the late '80s we hade a huge Red Alert daughter that was unigue to say the least.  She was dog gentle, but could jump any fence she wanted to.  When we would get the group in, she would jump right out.  Got to the point where we would just leave her out, and wait for her to jump in with...

Anyone know how much it cost to sex semen?

Something that I am curious about, Sullivan's stated that a few of the donors in their sales did not work with sexed semen.  Any ideas what the difference is?

An interesting story on my grandfather..

Good for your Grandpa.  I've had both hips replaced, the first one when I was only 31.  It is amazing how much better you feel when they start to heal than before the surgery.

    Its Derby Day!!!

Just like always, a dollar short.  My local tavern held an auction on derby horses, and I dropped out at $120.00.  Returned $900, but I checkened out. (lol)

    Its Derby Day!!!

I like the #19 I'LL HAVE ANOTHER, then #4 UNION RAGS and #6 BODEMEISTER third.  It is fun to follow along.

    Free 4 all?

I think the point frostback was trying to make is that being a full sib doesn't mean he will be anything like either of the winning steers.  I'm more familiar with Shorthorn bloodlines, but have seen flushmates with a 1 1/2 frame score difference with similar recips.

    Free 4 all?

I agree, I like both steers.  Just wondering how you would know to use him on small, moderate or tall cows, etc.
