Ways to tell straight front end from pics and videos

I agree with OSF to a point. That smoke looks like it will be fine. I have to say that on that one you need to watch the video to get a good idea because unless the pic is obvious like the last black calf video is my Main decider. I'm sure OSF has been around just as many picture pens and my...

Ways to tell straight front end from pics and videos

I think the first one will be adequate, I don't think it will to big of an issue. The second one will be real straight and the third is working on it. Both of those last two calves are already up on their front feet starting to buck over.

    Steer Declare by Date

Texas has gone so far as to set up an ownership and "tag-in" for heifers. That they have set up for the month of October for spring majors starting this year and July for fall majors. It's kind of Ridiculous if you ask me.

    Slick shearing cattle

Has nothing to do with inferior cattle. Cattle look better with hair to most people I'm sorry but slick sheared cattle don't look eye appealing that's why there is such a turn out as far as spectators that don't belong to the cattle world. Any person looking at cattle that knows anything knows...

    Slick shearing cattle

Or people just need to work Harder to grow hair and not complain when all they do is dump feed and haul to a show. Slick shear shows don't make it any easier to judge cattle all it's to do is "even" the field.

Grooming a cow in a pair class

Should be plenty of time. Just be sure to work the hair left behind and it will look fine.

Grooming a cow in a pair class

When slicking go down with your clippers gives a smooth look while leaving some hair use coarse blades or mediums. Stop at the waterline as in the belly and legs. Be sure to not leave any lines as well

Grooming a cow in a pair class

I'd say if she has underline hair and leg hair slick her top half, leaving hair if she has it in key places i.e crest, neck, shoulder, tail head etc. then blend.

    Unprofessionalism

I do not believe so Xbar. There is a major drop in quality of judges at podunk shows very rarely are these judges vying or wanting to possibly judge a major some day in my opinion most of time it is a good friend putting on a show and they ask their buddy that has some knowledge to come judge...

    Sullivans black touch up finisher

We use brown, auburn to build a tad. Then use the blCk touch up then finisher touch up covers more area than finisher. The finisher just puts the glossy look to match the oiled up top half of the animal.

when did judges stop feeling steers

I will say that when I judge I judge off look, too many calves these days being shown are not calm enough for someone to feel of them or at least my view and I hate being kicked by my own cattle so I'm sure not putting myself in a position to be kicked by someone else's. I don't neccarily think...

    Announcement from Tyson Foods

Has to make you wonder how this is going to affect the market. With cattle prices at an all time high, what does Tyson stereotyping animals not buying near as many do to the prices for cattle across the board.

And we have found if you go to Walmart and buy the extra hold hair spray for women if works wonders I can't remember the certain brand we found but it's oil with some crazy good hold if you blow it in...
