    Food Prices could rise 40 % !!!

I was listening to the radio in the truck the other day and heard a news report that Liberals are now registering as Republicans during the primaries so they can vote in candidates on the Republican side that their candidate can beat.  The local guy had seen somewhere where a record number of...

    OT - Vegetarians

This same individual is a life coach - whatever the heck that is.  I've seen enough of her ideas to know that I never want her coaching my life.  LOL

    OT - Vegetarians

I'm annoyed with the topic of Vegetarians right now.  Why is it that when you become a Vegetarian you have to post daily on facebook and feel the need to give everyone an update on how well you feel?  I really could care less.  Perhaps if you didn't eat too much, you would have felt fine eating...

    iowa state fair judges

Certainly last year I felt the judge changed things up.  Do I think that's a sign of changing times?  I don't have enough information at this time to tell honestly.  I've been to a lot of shows this year and the same "FREAK" steer with a very small frame, lots of power, and not near enough...

    iowa state fair judges

That's with the two cloned calves from the champion two years ago, right?  I thought I had heard they were showing a couple of clones.

    iowa state fair judges

There were a few classes where maybe I didn't entirely agree with last year's judge, but I thought he was pretty consistent for the most part.  Where I really disagreed with him was the market heifers.  I'm not surprised he wasn't invited back though.  I think he left some big money hangin in...

    So much rain

River level was at 7 ft yesterday.  Flood stage in Cedar Rapids is 12 ft.  We've been pretty dry in the Cedar Rapids area before this past week and a half.  We are a far cry from the 10 or so inches that spots of Southern Iowa has received.  I think we are at 2-4" for the month before the last...

    Football conference power rankings

Not sure I would use the Marsee Power Rankings.  I quickly glanced at how he had teams ranked (which I think would go into conference power rankings as well) and he had Georgia Tech #10 and Iowa #18.  Iowa beat Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl.  I couldn't find on his web page where he was...

Off Topic - Big XII is Dead - Long live the Big XII

Since a lot of this talk all revolves around money, check this out:  http://www.hawkeyenation.com/football/ncaa-top-revenue-producers Thought this was kind of interesting.

    Football conference power rankings

Just curious, what source did you use for Conference Power Rankings?  I'm looking at the final 2009 Sagarin rankings and I haven't done a great deal of research on this but it doesn't look like the Pac 10 would even begin to figure in off of those.

Thought you guys would enjoy this.  <beer> http://www.kctv5.com/sports/23860558/detail.html The next few days or weeks could get pretty crazy regarding all the talk surrounding conference expansion/realignment.

Off Topic - Big XII is Dead - Long live the Big XII

Until the college baseball season is moved, I doubt it will ever be as popular as youth and high school baseball/softball in the midwest.  It needs to be moved to summer.  Likewise, I would think that a school with the size and resources of Texas could field a wrestling program.  I know that...

Off Topic - Big XII is Dead - Long live the Big XII

Be interesting to see how much pull UT has in the Pac 16.  You talk about snobs - Stanford has historically rejected bids in the past to expand the conference due to a team not meeting academic requirements.  I'm surprised Stanford's not going nuts over this whole deal.

Off Topic - Big XII is Dead - Long live the Big XII

To add to what I said above about the B10 moving south, I do think they would move south if it involved Texas.  I just don't think Texas is interested in sharing revenue and traveling that far North and East.  That's my opinion though.  Nothing really would surprise me with this expansion talk...

Off Topic - Big XII is Dead - Long live the Big XII

Personally I don't think the B10 is going any further than Nebraska out of the Big 12 at this time.  I think they won't add any more teams until Notre Dame commits to the conference or they can find a team to open a significant television market in the east ie. Rutgers.  The way the Big 10...

Advice on buying a good heifer

I don't see anything lucky about researching and finding a deal.  In fact, I'd say it's work.  Just trying to put some advice out there for those of us that don't have unlimited supplies of money.  Most great calves trade hands several times before they end up in <Insert Big Time Steer Jock...

Advice on buying a good heifer

The best advice that I can give is to research, research, research.  If your choice is to go the breed route, figure out which breed and go through breeders herds before the sale season.  Make your list of calves and rank them.  You may need to go back more than once to compare calves between...
