What clubby bull would work with a purebred Simmy?

I saw many calves in Iowa a few weeks ago and the most consistent were out of Unforgiven.  One in particular was out of a pretty common looking simmi cow and he was nice.  I would try him if you want to raise a show steer.

    HELP Steer with poor circulation!

Unfortunately, this is probably genetic and odds are, he won't get better.  You can try a supplement with TASCO in it.  That's a dried seaweed extract that acts as a vasodialator (dialates blood vessels and increases blood flow).  Purina's High Octane Champion Drive supplement has this as does...

    fitter 35

You can use it as a source to supplement high quality protein and it will not add fat.  Use it to shape and tone a calf that has enough finish.  If you want to contiue to add finish while supplementing protein, use Champion Drive.  You can feed 1 to 2 lbs. depending on how much you need to do.

    Grasshopper crop driving me crazy.

We've out smarted them in Texas this year.  No GRASS!

    depth charge

You can use it early in place of beet pulp but I primarily use it a few weeks leading up to show at a few pounds each day.  At the show I'll increase it depending on how much fill I need and may let the steer eat as much as he wants the day of the show and water him good also to activate and...

Great shorthorn aug steer for sale. Best offer!!!!!!

My brother went and looked at this calf and said he would feed him if he didn't already have 8 on feed now.  Red roan with a big top and hip.  Good shape and sound also.  If you're looking for one now this would be a buy I think.

Santa Gertrudis - The Real Deal

Good cattle.  Nice calf in the Avatar also.  What was he?

    Purina feed

I actually work for Purina and we did have problems a few years back with mold in the summer time but we've since fixed that and in Texas we haven't had that problem as long as the dealer is getting it fresh from the mill and not trying to stock too much at the store.  As for the cost, what I've...

Thoughts on American Calf we raised.

super stout.  could be a little short fronted and maybe straight a little.  But good for that class.

    Disrespectful teacher

The exact think happened to me when I was in High School with my Science teacher except I was going to a stock show.  Ten years later when I came home to speak at the high school for a function she made a point to apologize to me after all those years.  She now had a child that was invlolved in...

    Choppin' Wood Looks Good

Is there a video.  I like the picture but I would like to see these bulls at least in a video with todays technology and the investment at risk.

    Right on and Joe B

That's my opinion.  I would have used the light.

All Texas Angus Classifiers...Which one would class better?

They both look like they would class at this point to me.

    Right on and Joe B

Joe B is a bull a good friend of mine raised and has had success with.  The lightwieght Simbrah class winner at San Antonio (Should have won Breed in my opinion) was out of him as well as the lightweight Brangus classwinner and the 3rd light simbrah and some other placing steers I can't recall. ...

Grand at houston, how did he compare to past champs

I agree there.  Jensen did try to allude to that in some of his comments but there is now way to sort cattle definitively on that.  However, the judges at Fort Worth the last few years have not selected the stout freaky kind in general.  In the slick shows, however, I think you can look at some...

Grand at houston, how did he compare to past champs

A 149 pound calf at birth (what I heard the Fort Worth Grand was) is pretty far away from real world.  We don't need freaks.  This is not a Circus.

Grand at houston, how did he compare to past champs

I don't think Shaake or Thomas did a great job sorting cattle this year.  Thomas was pretty confused.  Shaake just did what he always does.  Not bad just his opinion.  They all need to look at what Randy Daniels and Jack Ward will do in a steer show.  This cattle don't need to be FREAKS.  They...
