% RED ANGUS SHOW AT IOWA STATE FAIR

Absolutely, but I think that the people they are trying to attract are the juniors that have one crossbred heifer. Those who will more than likely sell the animal at the end of the show season and buy something else next year. I wasn't at the meeting so I am just speculating and could be all...

% RED ANGUS SHOW AT IOWA STATE FAIR

Exactly right. This deal is pretty much set up for the jumior showmen and gives some of the steer jocks a market for some heifers. The breeders who are in the business for the long term will hardly acknowledge it other than to keep an eye on the people who use the clubby bulls on red females...

% RED ANGUS SHOW AT IOWA STATE FAIR

This is for the junior show only. For those interested, you have always been able to show 1/2 blood steers at the Iowa State Fair junior show. I assume that they will allow 1/2 blood heifers as well at this one but I don't know the details.

Breeding red angus to black and reg. Calves

If your black cows are carrying the recessive red gene, approximately 1/2 of those calves will be black and 1/2 red when bred to a Red Angus bull. The black cows that do not carry the recessive red gene will all have black calves. Those black calves will all carry the recessive red gene and be...

Breeding red angus to black and reg. Calves

All red calves resulting from the breeding are registerable as 1A red angus, any black calves out of the mating can be registered as catagory 3 red angus. None are registerable in the black association unless you are in Canada where they run both breeds out of one herd book. RCR

Can anyone tell me how to dye shavings

We have used a electric cement mixer to dye them, not a fast or easy process. They need to be spread out to dry for a while after they are dyed. RCR

Simmy bull on Red Angus cows

Lorenzons have been very sucessfull with the Simmi/RA cross. I'm not sure of what simmi bulls they are using on their red cows but I can tell you that they sell the tar out of those F1 cross bulls in their bull sale. Damar in WI is breeding several of their Simmi cows that they got in the CCC...
