SKF.. so sorry for your loss.  Been there, done that, although not with a "clubby bull".  Just based on my experiences with purebred cattle, using a clubby bred would scare me to death.  Whenever you work with the crosses, it is such a crap shoot because it is so hard to predict the calving...

Yikes.. it does sound nasty.  But if you trust your vet, I would think she'll be alright.  Make sure she's eating.. if she goes off her feed I would talk to the vet again.  Good luck!

We always feed free choice hay to the show heifers.. it helps to keep their gut working when they're on all that grain, and helps to fill them up.  I've never fed alfalfa... they don't need it if they're on high powered feed.  Try to get a grassy mix, like timothy, or better yet, hay grazer.  My...

In my experience, used blowers in good condition are hard to find.  If you go to any of the big shows, the show suppliers there generally carry a good selection of used ones that they've worked over.  I know that Sullivan's always has a supply of them on hand.

We try not to use them.. but there will always be a situation when you do need it.  Like when the trailer is nearly full, and there's one cow that won't get on, and all the others want to come back out.   Especially Brahman and Brahman influenced cattle... it seems like they are more bullheaded...

I was also able to find hay on craig's list... you might want to check it out.  More local people are likely to post there.

Probably because the economy SUCKS, it's close to Christmas, and money is tight for many folks. But I agree.. a very nice calf.

Where did you see them for sale?  I just went to the web site, and didn't find them.  :-\

*sigh*.. I have the NAILE photos, but you'll notice they still don't have the class postings.  And there are no names for the pictures. I was interested in division champions and grand and reserve.  The cattle names... not the owners.  Thanks!

I haven't looked them up individually, but Full Figures and Perfector tend to be "leggy".. so use something that has good depth. 

You've got it made... good technique, and you're starting at the right age!

I don't like the heavy ones.. if they get wet it's like carrying around another 10 lbs!  I get mine at Wal Mart... I don't think I've ever paid more than $10.  Then when you ruin them it's not the end of the world!
