    jose vs daddys money

I agree Tyler. We had a 96# heifer calf born no problems. But a 63# bull that wasn't shaped right out of a 2nd calver was stillborn. Shape of the calf means a heck of a lot more than the weight. Grandpa told a 50# sink plug won't let the water out but 100# of string will go right down. That's...

    jose vs daddys money

I did not call them mongrels but original poster was asking about on Simmental heifers that cross breeding is going to add some heterois and usually birth weight is going to be higher. I have no knowledge of Jose bull but around this area there have been some guys custom AI'ing heifers all over...

    jose vs daddys money

Just my opinion but there is no such thing as a clubby bred heifer safe bull. Maternal Simmental heifer why not Angus or keep her Simmental? We use Confidence, Confidence's son Courage http://www.selectsiresbeef.com/index.php/bull-database-view-page?bid=288&breed=Angus this year also,  old...

    Red Simmental Bulls

http://genex.crinet.com/beef/index.php?action=DETAIL&code=1SM00143&lang=EN I had one calf in the fall and got 4 more coming this spring. Fall calf came early and is growing right with the rest of them. Once I get these other 4 on the ground I may get some more semen on him. So far happy anyway...

    TIA Timed AI

AJ I would say all of the above. We have had it in the dairy bulls for long time now. Just takes a lot of data to prove out a beef bull. Dairy herds preg check often and keep track of breeding and conception data better than most beef herds.

    First Defense

I'll 2nd that. Ever since getting first defense pill in calves asap we have not treated a calf for scours. Sometimes you can find them on sale late fall and find a coupon and get them pretty cheap.

What Club Calf Bull to use on smaller framed cows to make show steers?

Like I've said I've only been around 2 and was just talking to a buddy and he used him to add some frame to a cow and it didn't work. I like the calves but I doubt these ones I've seen will hit 1200#. We are going to try again. Some people have said One and Only's get big too and I didn't get...

What Club Calf Bull to use on smaller framed cows to make show steers?

No, I've raised one and been around another and they don't grow and can't milk either. I used him on pb simmy cow and calf was 92# and a brick. Weaned off 400# but thick and good. That was the end of the grow of him. Full feed no more frame but got to 600.

    Flushing an Angus cow

IMO if you have sold that many $ out of that cow I'd be flushing to replace her. And what better way to do that than with another highly proven PB bull. Angus would be my first choice if she is registered. Simmental would be 2nd. A cow like that would be worth spending the money on the one and...

    Simmental bull EXCALIBER

Have only been around a few but as mean as they were as yearlings I can't imagine what they be like as cows.

What to use on simmi/angus cows

I've been using higher % Maine bulls. If you got some reds some of the Char cross bulls work real good too. That Maine deal with a shot of Simmi has always been a good cross I feel. Good luck

    Kappes Pendleton B6

Soon as he sold I emailed about semen and just now here a month ago it was released? So did he not freeze or were they using it themselves? I really like his pedigree and these reds and RWF cattle are hot. May still get some for next year.

    Pleasant Surprise

Some hard breeders do take eggs. BUT NOT ALL! I would not try it with an expensive egg...

What do you think of this Yellow Jacket x PB Simmental steer?

March calf that has really came along this year. I'm pretty proud of this one so far. Carries 50% Simmental papers.

    Heifer safe Simmy bulls

W/C United isn't heifer safe enough for me. If I really knew she had a lower BW pedigree I may risk it. We have been using this SimAngus bull on a lot of the commercial cattle and few registered ones. Will keep using him. Calves always grow well and breed some heifers here this fall that look...

    Simmental Bulls Input Requested

I've been around a lot of Jumpstarts as virgin heifers never noticed anything. Our Jumpstart was easy to handle and the steer calves I've had here always have been too.

    Simmental Bulls Input Requested

Only one I can comment on is Jumpstart. I think he is way under rated. We have used 200+ units. Mostly on high % angus heifers. Calve easy and they take off. Maybe a tick smaller framed than I like but they go on to be some great calf raisers.
