The wisdom of a 2 year old

Sounds like our house and you should hear the conversations now that the girls are 13, 16 and 20!  My favorite all time story is when we had just started with the cattle and our oldest was about 4.  We were cutting bull calves.  She watched, asked what we were doing and I explained.  Again a...

    Milkman

This is our MM bull calf.  He came easily and on his own. He is 3 days old in these pictures. The girl in the pics is 5'4", so that kind of gives you reference to his size.  I know these pictures aren't great, but hopefully you can get some idea.  The one laying down is so you can see the width...

    Milkman

Had a Milkman heifer calf this morning and should be expecting 2 more soon.  After I used him heard the horror stories and am nervous waiting on other two but this calf is great!  Out of a smaller made Charolais cross cow, would say she's in the 85-95 range but up and playing around pretty...

    Milkman history on calving....

Sorry for 2 posts in one morning... but used Milkman on some of my better cows and just heard from guy who used him on some of cows he bought from us.  Had an almost 140 pound dead calf last night, which terrifies me but had to pull many others.  What are your experiences?  Anyone induced cows...

    Northern Improvement

Have read lots about Northern Improvement and thinking about using him on Charolais influenced heifers.  Would like to know what others think of him? Pros and cons?  Any calf pictures I would love to see.  Steer calves would be county to state level show steers and heifers would be same as well...

    Ride to Northwest from Denver?

Wondering if anyone in Oregon, Washington or Idaho is going to Denver and would be willing to bring back a yearling Charolais heifer?  The dates Charolais are in are January 16th and start releasing on the 19th according to exhibitor book.  We are located in Eastern WA.  If you know of anyone or...

    Chiropractic work in cattle.

Here in WA we have a chiropractor that is also certified like the Dr. listed above.  He is FABULOUS!  He has worked mostly on our rope horses and it is almost freaky weird to watch the horses respond to him.  We have one mare that is a REALLY cranky mare.... but once he makes the first...

since he is late should he stay a bull

Up here in the Northwest we have lots of fall shows he could make it to as a steer!  Where are you located?  If left a bull what was his BW?

    Bred Heifer

We have had a few with hair like this out of a Charolais bull and some cross bred cows.... it isn't any fun to work with!  Takes a while to get it going and straightened out.  Sorry for the bad news but love your calf!

    Lightest calf born alive

Had a set of twins born on November 23rd that weren't due till Christmas eve, as there wasn't a bull on the place!  We were sure surprised to find them.  They are the calves in my picture at about two months old.  The were 30lbs. for the little one and 42 pounds for the big one.  They took some...

Ideas and comments about a silent auction

I have done a couple and think it works really well!  No overhead.... things I learned over time: set minimum bid increments as I didn't think of this first time and literally had people going by the dollar!  Not cool....  Another change I added was that I had set a time when the sale would...

Ree Hieghts Bull son out of WHO MADE WHO

Don't think I would use an unproven bull on heifers!  But will tell you that last year for the first time we used a "clubby" bull on our commercial cows.  Father in law wasn't overly thrilled about the idea so we bred to Rocky Balboa and were very pleased with results.  I have posted some pics...
