    Smooth walkers...

Last year when watching the shows I noticed a few calves that just seem to walk like they are on clouds.  Just so smooth and easy.  Really pretty to watch and of course these calves most of them placed well.  This one heifer in particular won the class. Anyone have suggestions about getting that...

    Goverment Reality !! N/C

Its definitely leaning that way in our area.  We have many many friends that work for the government.  Husband, wife, kids.  If most of them had to actually get a regular private sector job or work for themselves I don't know where they'd be.  We were talking about this last night.  Just like...

    Bull opinion please...

As I mentioned this bull will mainly be a clean up bull.  We still AI our best clubby heifers and 2nd year calvers, and our best proven mature cows.  We are hoping for some nice females perhaps out of him, and perhaps AIing them to some nice American sires down the road, so we don't get that...

    Bull opinion please...

He has some real impressive breeding behind him on both sides that's why we bought him.  He is loose fronted because 1/2 Brahman (on dams side) and full blood Braunvieh on sires side.  I'm thinking he'll make some really nice females crossing with our blacks.  Like humans sometimes I think good...

    Bull opinion please...

Thanks for the feedback... he's out of a SIMBRAH cow (one of the top dams in the breed, and a BRAUNVIEH Sire.  We have bought him for a clean up bull on our Maine/Angus (and a few Simmy Angus cows).  I personally like Braunvieh although most clubby guys don't.  Mostly looking for good heifers...

    College or No College

Well there's lots of things to think about?  Do you own your own herd (free and clear) or are you just riding someone else's coat tails... How much land do you have free and clear ...  (is it actually deeded in your name?) and even if all these are YES answers... I still think school can't hurt...

    Sheep

I love my cattle... but my husband says the sheep pay for them!  We run a lot of dorper sheep here in Central TX.  If I can answer some questions PM me, will share what we know. Our sheep are the meat type sheep.  They are wonderful animals and easy to maintain. (except a hungry coyote every...

    Halter Breaking stubborn calf

Two of my sons 3 steers this year were what I call 'buggers'!  Just calm down take your time and keep at it.  Like a few other said don't tie him yet if he's so crazy, just small pen walk around talk to him, scratch him (hand or show stick) and do nothing else but feed and show him affection. ...

    Foreign Cartoons

This is just one of a bunch I got today via email... all running in other countries.  They are really getting a good laugh at our USA these days. I couldn't help it with the upcoming elections this one really made me laugh.  (better than crying I guess!!)

    What are goals for life?

Pretty much mine too.... Know God better than I do today and hope my children and grandchildren have as good of a life or better than I have, and hopefully live healthy long enough to see it.  Oh... and to be able to market & sell some of those 4 Mil dollar ranches!  And be able to hold onto...

    Truck question

Husband has an '05 Chevy crew cab diesel pickup.  He is a stone masonry contractor... in addition to the ranching and has done much more hauling stone, materials and the like.  Very heavy hauls.  Its a flatbed and its been one of his best trucks he's ever had.  He was a Ford man for years but...

    Question

The premium auction is a total donation.  The buyer doesn't get anything (except some advertising, and the good feeling of helping a young person who loves agriculture).  You take your animal and do with it as you please.  To another show or sell again at the auction or some even find buyers for...

    American Influence Bulls

Thinking of using a nice cleanup bull in hopes to  throw some nice heifers to keep for the herd.  Want some show quality characteristics and hopefully docile and not craziness that some Americans can have.  We wouldn't mind a mix of some Braunvieh either.  Know this is a tough one but...
