I have never tried this in a cool room but I know of a large dairy operation that has tried many types of bedding thier calf huts and have found that bean stubble works better than anything.

In my opinion it depends what the rules say....if there is no rule against hiring a fitter than I don't think it matters if you pay the fitter a dollar or a thousand dollars.  If the rule says family only and you hire a fitter than it's unethical.

While I very much disagree with everything this administration has done in reality the 15 cent charge doesn't seem much different than the $1 we pay to the beef checkoff.

I agree with what the others have said but want to add that I would make sure I keep a pretty close eye on them the first few days......I have heard of few that have had cattle hang themselfs.

Doc, I just made the change from a Blackberry to a Droid a few weeks ago, I do like the Droid but the battery life on the phones really sucks compared to what you are probably using now.  My BB would stay charged for a few days...my Droid can hardly make a day on a charge. Mike

What you just described is what has made this country great, people taking a commodity and turning it into a value added product.  Do you think it's unfair for people to sell $750 feeder cattle as $20,000 show steers?

In my opinion fans are about the best fly control. Flys won't land or if they do they won't stay for very long if there is a lot of air movement.
