    Ultimate SHOW cattle trailer

Are you planning on having cattle under the awning?  I have an awning on my horse trailer and it's very rare that we use it, they aren't built very solid so if you had a horse or cattle get into the supports it would take about 10 seconds for the thing to be destroyed.  Also a little bit of wind...

    Blower Cart in the Trailer?

Kind of an off the wall question so not sure if I will get any responses but has anyone found a good way to transport the Sullivan double blower cart in the trailer?  They work great at the show, no better way that I know of to store and transport the blowers but on the trailer I can't seem to...

    Ultimate SHOW cattle trailer

I am suprised that you don't see more people pulling trailers with living quarters to cattle shows.  We show both cattle and horses, usually only the county fair and another small show with the cattle but lots of horse shows.  Our cattle trailer is a 7 1/2 x 20 with a 4 foot dressing room, I...

    Ultimate SHOW cattle trailer

I would be a bit nervous about doing that, toy haulers and RVs are not built the same as livestock trailers.  Livestock trailers are made to withstand pawing, pulling, pushing, banging, and all of the other things that a load of thousand pound animals do while traveling,  toy haulers are made to...

    Cooler

I have never tried this in a cool room but I know of a large dairy operation that has tried many types of bedding thier calf huts and have found that bean stubble works better than anything.

    Calf creep feeders

Do you have an area that you can use to feed just the calves?  If so rather than buying a creep feeder you could use a board over and open area or set a metal post so a gate would only open far enough to let calves in and then feed them in a bunk or pans.  Kind of hard to explain but any opening...

    2300 lb Angus Str (pics)

Not really sure how anyone is figuring profit or loss? Unless I am missing something no where in the thread does it show the cutout value of the steer,  the $1.80 was a live price (lwt).  If we don't know what the packer sold the product for how can we know if they made a profit or a loss?

does anyone have honda generator for sale

I have a couple of Honda generators (not for sale) and before buying them I looked for a long time for a used one and my experience was that the used generators sold for about new price so you are probably just as well of buying one new, you might get lucky and find a deal on a used one but I...

    I guess I dont understand.?

Angus is a breed as is Simmental, Hereford, Maine-Anjou, etc., club calf would be more of a generic term, there is no standard for what can be called a club calf and what can't.  I guess the best explanation would be that someone would label a calf a "club calf" if they believe it is of the...

    Fitters??

In my opinion it depends what the rules say....if there is no rule against hiring a fitter than I don't think it matters if you pay the fitter a dollar or a thousand dollars.  If the rule says family only and you hire a fitter than it's unethical.

no kidding, christmas tree tax N/C

While I very much disagree with everything this administration has done in reality the 15 cent charge doesn't seem much different than the $1 we pay to the beef checkoff.

    What to spend it on?

I'd put it in an envelope marked "Show Cattle" and keep it in my desk until I needed something rather than looking for something I "needed".

How do you train a calf to keep his head up?

I agree with what the others have said but want to add that I would make sure I keep a pretty close eye on them the first few days......I have heard of few that have had cattle hang themselfs.

    Droid Bionic phone! N/C

Doc, I just made the change from a Blackberry to a Droid a few weeks ago, I do like the Droid but the battery life on the phones really sucks compared to what you are probably using now.  My BB would stay charged for a few days...my Droid can hardly make a day on a charge. Mike

rock salt - capitalism - disgust

Apples to Apples A feeder calf is worth about $750, the same steer sold as a club calf sells for $20,000....same calf. A ton of rock salt sold to a cow-calf producer is worth about $200 a ton, rock salt sold as trophy deer salt sells for $2000 a ton....same salt. Do you think that the person...

rock salt - capitalism - disgust

What you just described is what has made this country great, people taking a commodity and turning it into a value added product.  Do you think it's unfair for people to sell $750 feeder cattle as $20,000 show steers?

In serious need of some fly advice!

In my opinion fans are about the best fly control. Flys won't land or if they do they won't stay for very long if there is a lot of air movement.
