I think Telos is right he has a place and should be used on a really soggy Angus or Simmy based cow. He will add the bone and hair at least that's how mine have been.

This is a Maine Man heifer out of a 3/4 Shorthorn cow. She is a dark blue roan under all that hair. She was only about 70 # at birth and was 10 days early.

I guess the reason I asked was that with Broker semen at $125 you are half way to the Steel Force at $250 or so. It sounds like the Brokers are doing well so probably no need to spend the extra $$.

There should be a few Broker calves on the ground by now would like to know how they are turning out ? I know he probably only saw limited use due to the price but there still should be a few out there by now.

So what bull is working on Grandmaster heifers for their first calf ? I have considered using SAV Brilliance or GVC Settler for Angus bulls and Duracell for a Simmy bull. Are their others that may work better ? Since Grandmaster isn`t known for growth I would like to add some to these calves ?

I used Grandmaster on a Starpower x The Bookie heifer and a Trademark X Hannibal heifer and they came unassisted. They may not grow as fast as some of the calves by other Simmy bulls but they have a good look with plenty of bone and good hair for being 3/4 Simmy.

I`ve been seeing several heifers selling that the seller is retaining 1/2 embryo interest lately. I would like to know how that works. If we flush the cow we have to send 1/2 the embryos to the seller every time or is it just if you sell the embryos ? Is the seller responsible for 1/2 the cost...

I would use One & Only. You may get some good steers and the chances of the heifers being built like a steer momma should be is pretty good also. I believe he is already in the Simmental registry so that is a plus since you are using Simmy cows.

Actually there is at least one misprint on there Ali`s Solution is a Pha carrier. I was going to try him till I saw in some catalogs he was listed as clean and others he was listed as a carrier. I contacted Lautners to be sure and they said it was a misprint. Sometimes it may be best to contact...

I would go with Grandmaster. I used him on a Built Right for a second calf and got a nice heifer also used him on 2 half Simmy heifers that will be due in the spring.

I tried the same thing you`re thinking about . I used 2 sexed on the first breeding and 2 conventional on the second breeding and got 4 fertilized and 7 unfertilized. I really think you`re better off just using the conventional semen for flushing and I probably won`t use it again on a flush. I...

Thought I would share a pictures of a One and Only heifer calf out of one of my Mossey Oak cows. Right now she`s got pretty good hair and plenty of bone just have to see how she develops but for now I`m impressed with One and Only and will use him more next year.

Glad to hear they turned out well. I think he may get used more now that Monopoly semen is so expensive.
