    When should a steer going to OYE go into the cooler?

    The last response is very correct.  Put in now in hopes you can hold the hair.  Also keep in mind that lice is a big problem this time of year.  If they are licking their body, they probably have lice.  If you are still not fat enough, then put them in the cooler and get them fat.  Getting close...

    october silver steer

    Don't be too hard on this little green October steer.  Sire is an angus  Dam is a George hoo doo heifer from Kris Black.  We weaned him yesterday and will be for sale after Feb 1.  He needs a little feed time to evaluate his value.  We still have other older calves available.  Come see us...

    There is also a real nice Boardwalk silver heifer and a black ringer heifer out of a troubador heifer i bought at Kris Blacks last summer.  I will get those pics up when I get a chance. (dog)

    buying a steer where do I look?

    first I would find out when your final show is.  The calf needs to be 18-20 months old at that point of the final destination.  You might check on showsteers.com or edjecattle to find breeders within your area you want to look in.  Check out the winners page of the breeders you visit online...

    Thanks guys,  Would someone remind me next spring to spray for cockle burrs.  We have weaned the older half and I bet I have pulled out 5000 cockle burrs.  The calves look even better after they are burr free and have been washed and cleaned up.  We would like to invite anyone to come and see...

    steer not eating any suggestions

    Get some buttermilk down in his stomach.  Same principle as beer and probiotics.  Seems to coat the stomach to ease any pains.  Try it.  it will work.  This is what my dad used in the 50's before probiatic paste came along .  Still works.  Hope you already have him eating.  Good luck. ...
