    Sick calf question

That poor little thing! If I were in your shoes and saw that I believe the calf's owner would be laying flat on the ground beside it. With that being said and reading everyone's posts, I have to say I agree with everyone. Also, it might be good to put some hay in there with it to graze on...

    Breeding question

I am pretty new to the game, but I have been told that if you actually see the clean up bull breed her, then she was open. Also, if she happened to have just showed a false heat and your AI Tech bred her again and inserted the gun into her cervix, that would have penetrated the "plug" which is a...

    Texas Twister

I would have to agree. Just saw him yesterday at Hawkeye....WOW! Really liked him in person. I don't think the picture in the sire catalogs do him justice. He was one of my favorites (mind you there were only a hand full there when I visited), but he was a very nice bull. I believe I might be...

    LOOKING FOR GOOD STEER/HEIFER PROSPECTS

I posted some pics of what we have a couple weeks ago. Here is the link to my post. I figured it would be easier than reposting them. The Gucci and Bodacious are the best two steers and the Thriller and Walks Alone are the best two heifers. Pics don't do them justice but give you some kind of...

    I need...

If you're willing to travel a little out of state (I'm in northern Virginia) The majority of our calves are heifers this year. Have some very nice steers to choose from as well. Rodgers posted our Walks Alone heifer on his blog back on April 13th. If that gives you some kind of idea of what we...

    registering?

That really depends on what you think $30 is worth. But that is just for your membership, calf registration fees aren't included. It was more beneficial to me to register when I was a junior and already have my herd prefix picked out and the program my cattle would be under through the...

    registering?

In order to register a Maine or Mainetainer, you have to be a member of the association ($30 for junior and $100 for adult which is 21 yrs. and older) One parent of the calf must be registered with association already and the calf must be at least 25% Maine in order to be registered as a...

I-80 has Lepto? - UPDATE I-80 CSS Letter from Lautner Farms

So, if I bred some cows to him back in November, are those cattle ok then if its not passed through semen? Should I be keeping a close eye on them and separate them from the rest of my cows? Kinda planning on using him heavily this year so I hope there's no danger/risk to using this semen or...

    what is your worst mating?

Sorry for the bad luck but I would really like to see a picture of this! Never heard of this happening before.

    what is your worst mating?

Found out this past fall Money Shot doesn't work with our cattle. Had one with front legs like the one Dusty posted. Its bag legs were so straight she had to stand on one and then swing the other to take a step. She got to be about 2 months old then rectally prolapsed and we decided it was...

Take a look and help me pick a bull

Walks Alone would be a good choice. I also agree on Bodacious. They both should add what your looking for and even give you a brockle face or something. If you don't mind using a new bull...maybe even use Two Tone. Good Luck on your picking!

    See our Smilin' Bob

Very nice calf! I would be anxious to see what he looks like in a month or so. Also, is the white on his tail at the end of it or in the middle? It makes it look like his tail is really short from the picture.

    Bodacious......Red Bull

That's very interesting that they're two different colors. Gotta love bovine reproduction! :) We only had one Bodacious calf. It was a bull calf, marked just like the bull. His momma is a white sock Milkman cow. Very proud of the little guy. Will definitely be breeding more to him next year.
