    Words of advice

This brings me to ask everyone's opinion. I was told that in showmanship, a judge will look to see if your comb teeth are pointed out away from you. I got to the point that I just didn't take a comb in the ring with me. It always found that it would fall out of your pocket, or your calf or...

Lautner's sire catalog with the 2011 bulls

I know that Matt posted on his blog that it would be coming out with the March Show Circuit, but I was wondering if anyone knew if they were sending it to people that send catalog requests through their website that don't get the Show Circuit? Or if they will send those out at a late date...

What a learning experience I just had!

That's exactly how I feel. No calf is worth more than your life. All of my cows in the herd are halter broke and I feel perfectly safe working with them and their calves. But dad insists upon keeping her. She's the only cow we have that is like that. He now knows that if he wants to keep her...

What a learning experience I just had!

Thanks! Both pairs are doing well and real excited about their futures. My luck ran short by the evening feeding that night though. My brother's 2nd calving heifer had a calf when it was getting dark, went back out to check the progress...calf was out, but it was dead. I don't think she cleaned...

What a learning experience I just had!

Well, today was a huge learning experience for me. I was home ALONE and had one cow due to have a Walks Alone ET calf last Thursday go into labor. Now y'all are probably thinking okay no big deal. Well  I came back to check her and the back feet were hanging out, which I knew then that it needed...

    parents

Oh  my how you will learn. You sound like you could be my brother's twin! lol My dad likes to put things in this perspective for my brother...he's not paying for the feed, the land, the medicine, breeding supplies, show equipment, etc. He doesn't have to buy his show steers (we buy our own...

    two headed calf

I'm sure you could contact someone at a veterinary school close by and they would be interested in figuriing out what caused this. Maybe Colorado or Texas A&M. I'm not quite sure were you are from but I'd definitely ask one. I am still amazed that you didn't have to do  c-section!

    two headed calf

I have never heard of a 2 headed, 8 legged calf before. I wonder where they were still attached. I assumed that you had to do a C-section but saw the ropes on the legs. Were you actually able to pull the calf out and the cow is okay? What a tough cow! That is so interesting. Would love to hear...

    Facebook Page vs. Website

I just created a website and a facebook page, but I'm having a little trouble figuring out all of the quirks of the FB page. So I was wondering for those replying to this post if you could tell me how you sent out recommendatins. I tried sending them to my friends and when I hit the "send...

$20,000 will be awarded thru Sullivan Supply Scholarships

I have a question. Do you want us to write a total of 2 pages all together or do you want us to write one essay on school, community, FFA involvement that is an unlimited length and then another essay on showing experience and future plans that has a 2 page limit? I just wanted to make sure I...

    Would it be worth it?

I am in my 4th year of college and I own 10 cows and heifers on my own that I bought/ raised  since my sophmore year in high school. I'm gone during the week at school, but I'm lucky enough to have a brother that is willing to take of all the feeding while I'm gone. Plus, my school isn't so far...
