Low BW Angus bull to use on a Clubby Heifer

The Angus guys are using SAV Bismark, Barstow Cash, and EXAR Denver on their heifers.  All will sire the right kind. I think WAR Pay Grade may have some potential, but he is unproven.  All are widely available and affordable unlike some of the other bulls mentioned.

    Barstow Cash

I know that Cottonwood, K Bar D, and Ok. State University have all use him on first calf Angus heifers.  Seems BW range from 69 - 83 lbs.  I would call Eldon Krebs for his opinion, but Cash appears quite smooth shouldered and his EPDs are Angus heifer acceptable.

    Barstow Cash

Barstow Cash is a young bull that has been overwhelmingly accepted across the angus breed.  When he sold, Eldon Krebs sent out an e-blast with a video about the bull.  In the video Eldon was extremely excited about the bull which speaks volumes.  Cash has sired many high dollar embryos.  I have...

    Selenium

Can't help without seeing the mix or the diet.  What is the form of selinium?  I am sure that Vita Ferm puts that much selinium in the surechamp because most other ingredients are low selinium or availablility.  Rebalance the diet. http://5barx.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=32608

    Selenium

What is the ration and how much Surechamp are you including in the daily diet?  Instructions indicate that you should not exceed one pound of surchamp per day.  Based on the instructions and your post, I believe that you have not balanced the diet correctly.

Any demand for Meyer 734xAng. embryos

Lots of good old proven frozen genetics out there that will make money.  Many eggs go cheap exactly for the reasons chambero mentions.  Good cattle genetics change slowly.

    Go Bob Bale Feeders

I need to replace an older Bextra feeder.  I worked well, but did not stand up to being moved with the bale spike.  Anyone have input on the Go Bob hay saver bale feeders? http://gobobpipe.com/goBobOrangeOxHayConserverBaleFeeder.htm#hayConserversBaleFeeder

    Round balers

Lucky_P, we do the same and it has worked well for us except for the last two years.  It convinced me that a good hay saving bale feeder is a must.  I would also recommend the JD535 for those who are just jumping in.  Don't eve consider a New Idea unless you want to work with loose bales.  Even...

    Implants for show steers

I was taught that implants would improve a animal's ability to lay down protein (muscle), increase daily gain,  and lean them up. This will essentially make them more efficient and increase yield grade but at the expense of quality grade.  You did not mention the weight of your steer or his...

    Stampede champion steer disqualified

My guess is that soundness is the reason.  If the drug was given to the steer so he wouldn't limp, then that may be their position.  Frankly, I think it is a bit harsh.  Its not like clenbuterol and it is a drug that is routinely used in production.

    feeding the world

Cattle are carbon neutral, am I wrong?  Methods to get burgers to market certainly are not, and neither is ethanol, vegan foods, etc.  Cattle will create protein from lands too poor for vegan protein sources.

    Humane handling and raising articles

I have always admired Duff's on how they raise their cattle.  Forward to 3 minutes 55 seconds.  Most animals can't make the "never ever" status, but some do.  With that much premium, I am sure everyone would quit antibiotics if they could. Power Plus Genetics

    Time to make a change!

    Heat and recip ?

Trust the bull, he is keeping better tabs on the cows than you.  Prostaglandin works if a CL is present.  She very well could have had a ripe ovary and no CL when you gave the shot. I might think differently if this had been the second shot in a two shot protocol. If you have doubts, contact...

hoover dam on first calf heifers

It depends on the heifer and her background, but Hoover Dam meets all of my criteria for use on first calf heifers for calving ease.  I have not used him, so I can not comment on his ability to power up.  What's the heifer's sire and dam or AAA #?
