A Country founded by geniuses but run by idiots!! N/C

Not to take sides with our "enemies", but, you're absolutely right. The desire to defend their beliefs and uncommon valor goes a long way, that's why Afghanistan ran the Soviet tanks out. GB

    opinions on shorthorn plus heifer

    I agree. She's plenty-good for making a calf-raising cow. GB

    Thoughts on FSF STARBURST 058

Ummmmm...............?????????????? I'll try to be politically correct, here. Since WHEN is a cat assed, raw-boned, crooked-legged cow anything near an "old School" Shorthorn cow? Sonny, you need to do more research, before you go and make any ill-informed statement such as the above one. GB

Would you use a bull this colour??? New pics from CWA

Yes, but, Y'all's "Experts" that "Classify" at all of Y'uns' Texas Major Shows will send a solid-red one with a true, breed-character head & all the right pieces back to the Stalls, and accept a splotchy, Orange Roan one (with Brindle Stripes in his face & legs) to enter the ring. Who trained...

For those that feed round bales in this weather

If you'd like to see a "positive" outcome, feed Bermudagrass Hay in rings. You will get round circles of Bermudagrass that spread out and grow every year. GB

The new registered Shorthorn business model.

I'm gonna try to go to the Pre-Sale Party, as well as the Sale. It's just 40 minutes or so up the road from where I live. I hope to see and meet some of Y'uns there. GB

    Calving ease shorthorn bull?

Other than the extra sheath, I kind of like Proud Star's more performance-oriented look. He's a good rip. The Chalk draw's 'Em! GB

    Lovings sale

Lot 1 should be in a major AI Stud, as a feature bull, not an added attractions deal or custom collections, either. He has the most true "breed character" head, and not a white hair on him. <beer>GB

    Durhams for Denver

The Ol' 734 cow is a beauty, but prolly too big for our taste. Even though He's horned, I really like the 8279 bull. I'd be leary of owning a bull named Sancho,as he'd probably be at the neighbor's place all the time, instead of staying with his assigned group of cows.....I hate fixing...

    Shorthorn Cow Families

I don't believe for a minute, that cow families don't matter to commercially-oriented purebred breeders. It'd make a whole lot more difference to someone with 75 papered (but unpampered) cows than, let's say, to another with 5 head that are tied, in some way or another to a Youth Project...

    Durhams for Denver

Actually, Y'all, it's Red Doc Farm, owned by a Family of Physicians, from New Mexico. They have a website. Pretty Daddgum good Gerts! Some beautiful photographs and "scenery" on the site. GB

    Careers and Jobs

As I understand things, many High Schools in the Southeast are experiencing a shortage in available candidates to fill vacancies in the area of Agricultural Education. Get away from the snow, and head down to fescue-and-Bermudagrass country. at least for a few years while Y'uns build your...

    Durhams for Denver

Who said I was referring to a herd of 1700-lb commercial cows? 70% of these bulls are going out to purebred Shorthorn herds that have been selected for the maximum growth traits for multiple generations. Like AJ, has said (and said, and said, and said, etc) that "we" in the Shorthorn breed have...

    Red Simmental A.I.

I thought Y'uns involved in raising Simmentals were the first to use DNA Technology? I disagree. You could use a South-African Fleckvieh that is a guaranteed Non-spotter, Non-dilluter, if you wanted to, and be pretty certain of the color of the anticipated calf. Awesome cow! I really like...

    Shorthorn Cow Families

That's the very reason I liked the cow families that I have mentioned......because of how they performed at RAISING CALVES without too many extra inputs or attention, and last and survive for many years. This is the EXACT reason Shorthorns were created five centuries ago. Just ask someone like...

    Durhams for Denver

Seriously.........Y'un's want to point out the reality of black Simmental-Composite bulls will sire CAB carcasses when mated to commercial Angus cows, yet refuse to start marketing Filet-O-Fleckvieh as a valid alternative for North-American Consumers in the Supermarket. While you're at it, how's...
