    Fat Ration

Well, I think it all depends on how much of that ration he will eat per day. He should be able to make it to 1250+    easy enough--fat enough might be another story since he "still needs a ton of cover" at 1150 lbs. Is the molasses liquid?  You're at over 10% molasses, which might be plenty...

Bagged Show feed - Your input appreciated

I agree Freddy, but our ShowRite problems were in the middle of winter. I think in our case it was more a problem of a warehouse keeping the inventory "rotated".  Like most people, nothing makes me grumpier than opening a (high priced) bag of feed and finding a moldy mess...no matter what brand...

Bagged Show feed - Your input appreciated

We tried Show Rite feed a few years ago since we have a nearby dealer. I will say it had by far the most quality problems of any of the bagged feeds we have fed. After a number of bags of moldy feed--in the winter--that was the end for us.

Bagged Show feed - Your input appreciated

We really like HSC Fitter's Edge.  It's designed more as a grower, but you can add fat, barley, or corn and use it well past the grower stage. It works really well on easy fleshing heifers. I believe it's between $12 and $13 per bag.  I would try Umbarger feed, but we don't have a good source...

    CRR About Time 743

Well, I know one of ours won't help the birth EPD....and, Interstate was not exactly a low BW bull. It's been quite awhile since P606 had a neg. birth EPD--certainly more than a couple of years.

A few pictures of the girls

Nice group of heifers, RW. I'm the most impressed by the 3rd picture---looks to be a really good, uniform GROUP of heifers--much harder to accomplish than a couple of good ones. If we pick a day that's not raining cats and dogs-- or 100 degrees-- to head your direction, we might have to look...

    CRR About Time 743

Does that mean that you are concerned about his maternal capabilities??  My guess is his daughters will be good cows--nothing about Durango X Interstate would lead me to believe otherwise. Time will tell, I guess.

How do you decide if its a bull or steer

Unless you have a well established bull market--"if in doubt, cut their nuts out!"

Whats the focus of your breeding program?

I certainly don't need to defend Shortdawg--I'm sure he can handle that himself--but I have no idea how you came to numerous conclusions based on his simple post.        BTW, I'm certainly in favor of building strong cow families, etc., but if you don't make some money "along the way", it may be...

    Aluminum Chute ***SOLD***

We have an extra aluminum chute for sale. It is 7.5 feet---a nice in between size that still fits in a standard pick-up bed. This is not a Sullivan chute, we actually bought it from Travis Stenberg. It comes complete with a padded floor, and is in good condition. We are located in E. Iowa...

Blue Roan DR WHO heifers sell on Ohlrichs sale

Hey Scott--the calves look good. I saw these calves when we picked up the QD heifer, and they are both really nice. A little different in type, but both are very good. I know which one was my favorite a month ago, but alot of people may disagree.  (clapping) Man, am I stupid.....I should be...

    A Caring Reminder......Local Man Killed....

WTF!!  For the record--I don't know JIT or aj--but those remarks are totally uncalled for. Evidently you are more concerned about others finances (I have no idea what your sources are.....)  than most of us are.

    Looking for Stacking Show Boxes

We are looking for stacking show boxes, preferably aluminum. It seems like I saw a nice set of these with drawers, shelves, etc. in aluminum, but now I can't remember who sold them. It was not Sullivan's....If anyone knows of a company that sells something like this, I would sure appreciate any...

    wtb used show equipment

no problem on the chute.    How many fans would you be interested in?  We are probably less than an hour from you, so it wouldn't be a problem getting them to you....and would eliminate shipping costs.
