Please watch this!! I am VERY concerned how this was portrayed!

American Honey, there is nothing anyone can say, or do to change an animal activist's mind. They already have their pre conceived notions about how things are, whether it's raising beef, or the processing part. Most of what they hear is untrue. The thing that still amazes me about that video...

Please watch this!! I am VERY concerned how this was portrayed!

I thought it was done very well. Kudos to Cargill for implementing Temple Grandin's method of moving cattle. The first thing I noticed was how quiet it was. No cattle bellering, rushing around panicked, nothing. I come from a family of packing house workers. My husband for a few years, My Dad...

    Anybody going to Gassman's Dispersal?

Hubby is there, I had to work. He bought one at the classic, and lot #144 at Gassman's. He said it was a powerful set of females. Can't wait to see them tonight.

    Steer Running Away

That's a tough one. Once an animal knows they can get away, they will do anything to accomplish their goal. How is he with a halter, being led? Sometimes those critters run with the halter on too. Very dangerous. Go ahead and try the lower electric fence, I have seen steers time the pulse of the...

    cow showing heat

We used to have a cow that would show heat for 3 or 4 cycles when bred, always when she was carrying a bull calf. Strange, but true.

Duane purchased a Boo Who steer from us several years ago. I still remember him walking around our place looking at calves.   RIP Duane. (angel)

How do I Clear Ringworm up?

Blue Star ointment is the best, and the cheapest fix we have ever found. You can get it over the counter at most any drug store. Just ask for it. Usually one treatment works, and hair is growing back in just a few days. Make sure you disinfect all of the areas the cattle are exposed to, bunks...

    Club King cows

I was curious about him too. We bought two bred heifers at The North Central Simmental Fall Classic a couple of weeks ago. One heifer, a Maximus 391/HBHP Princess Legacy573  is bred to him. We like both of these heifers allot. We think they both have a bright future.

    northwood sale

It was a buyers market. Sales were low. Disappointing. A little better than last year, but some nice show calves went cheap.

Got one cow out of him. You're right on that. She has good calves though. Secret Service is another one.
