    Recip cows

I honestly think the whole embryo deal is vastly overated in its ability to make money for anybody other than people with enough of a name to sell the things (assuming the prices you see for them are real).  Success rates for implanting aren't that high (lucky if you get 50%), if you are...

    Recip cows

XBAR - on these recip deals the embryo owners want the recip ownes to pay for everything once the embryos are put in - sometimes they try to make you share implanting costs. And you have to spend a bunch of money getting your cows set up to achieve a high success (more feed than normal, drugs...

    Recip cows

XBAR - I'm telling you that if you are a commercial operation of any size (truckload of calves or more), have your pastures stocked correctly, and are raising the right kind of cattle (meaning not crap) that you (1) should not be selling your calves off the cow at 500 lbs and (2) those calves...

    Recip cows

Our 650 calves will be $2 give or take by early summer. No way $1500 gets it done in my opinion unless cattle prices drop.

county fair show- groomed or slick?

One additional thing to consider - is your county terminal?  If it is, slick is fine.  If it's not and kids would take thosecalves to future shows, you cant do slick without it hurting kids down the road.

Fort Worth Steer Show Results on THE PULSE

He found the right ones.  The Newman calf stood out in probably the toughest class I've ever seen. The weights broke weird and Class 10 caught everything from the high 1200s to mid 1300s.  Many years a lot of the high 1200s would have fallen into Class 9. Contrary to popular opinion, they tried...

calf with bad leg need help

Ligaments are stretched out from leg being folded up funny in wound.  Had one this year that got better after about a month.  We didn't do anything to him

When your goal is to keep a wound disinfected that is in a place very susceptible to infection, peroxide is a very good choice AND readily available and painless.  But you do have to rinse it off with water to avoid the possibility of damaging tissue - but I've never seen that actually happen. ...

I would use banamine and penicillin or another antibiotic. Can you keep him out of mud and dry?  If so, I like to leve cuts uncovered so they dry out.  I'd  rinse it out with hydrogen peroxide for a couple of days and use something like furox or scarlet wound spray.  If you can avoid infection...

    MAB x Yellow Jacket Cross

I'm pretty confident your thinking is correct.  If you really want to know, call Kris Black and ask if he knows of any.  Might be a few show up in Tx sales this spring if there were any last fall.

Why is semen on online sales so high?

You are assuming the online sales are real.  Pretty sure their purpose is to generate buzz.

    Breeding Options

Do you have any interest in breeding her Angus?  There is a heck of a market for registered Angus show heifers.  That heifer is not too straight in my opinion. There is not much demand for chiangus cattle.  I used to like them, but that has just disappeared. It's honestly hard to get a "Texas...

My Daughters Record Setting County Steer!!

Congratulations from someone that knows how hard you've worked for a long time.  And from someone that is jealous of those county show prices!  Now, go find you one that you can get that girl in the dome with next year (although I guess it isn't really the dome anymore). See you next week.
