That sounds just exactly like ours.. it isn't a complete circle but broken in halves.   And they can see.. Ours are both PB Simmi so by pedigree I don't think they can be TH carriers..

Lowann, does yours appear to be in only half the eye or all around the iris?  Its a weird thing for sure.  We tried to take a picture but it doesn't show up. 

That is crazy!  It really doesn't matter how much they try to control... the kids will still figure out a way around it.    My overweight nephew is one example...    He went almost half a semester eating 3 breakfasts and 2 lunchs.  It wasn't until his lunch money for the semester ran out...

I think I know what you are talking about.  I've seen something similar in a few of the newborn calves we've had here.  It is a noticibly lighter grayish color.  It darkens or clears up in time - I was looking at one calf last night that is about 6 weeks old and no longer noticed that she had...

We've noticed that different pigs like different things.. some will go crazy over marshmallows while others like vanilla wafers.    But the key is spend the time in the pen with them.    We keep our pigs in about an 8 x 8 pen in the beginning.   

The Otterbox is the one MUST HAVE!    I had a blackberry prior to my motorola droid but had so much trouble with the tracker ball.    The new BB's don't have a tracker ball but I wanted teh bigger screen of the droid..    So far, I like the droid although the learning curve was frustrating at...

Just like some of the other posters have said.  Get something sweet - mini marshmallows, vanilla wafers, vanilla creme sandwich cookies - turn a bucket upside down in the pen and sit on it and feed the ones who come up to you.    Pigs are very smart and it usually only takes a couple sessions...

We look at both when we are thinking about using a bull - but probably more so at the CE number. .  I don't put much trust in the number until the accuracy goes up. ..      I would put a lot of faith in that number being truly representative if the accuracy is in the 90s.   

Next time get some EZAll It's Gone.  You won't ever use anything else.  Can't even think if we have Hocus Pocus in the tack box anymore..

I agree Red was the heart of this board.    We are still waiting on our first red calf of the year!

We tie them off anywhere from a few hours old up to 3 or even 4 days.  This makes for a very nice short smooth dock. 

Doesn't look like a real old clip job to me.. and that wart has sprung since then. 

I think the most common place BoSe is used is in the big dumby newborn calves that won't stand & suck right away.    I've never heard of it being illegal. 

I've heard the same thing about that simmi hfr.  I may just have to go look for myself!! 

Exactly what Earthmover says!    It sometimes takes tubing for a few feedings before they figure it out.

I would think it would take a huge amount of explode to get the same effect.  They make the optiflexx that is designed for cattle..

We have them taken off of show heifers for that reason.  Also might be a concern if you ever wanted to show her as  a pair.
