    building a website

My husband and I build and maintain websites and have several clients.  We have probably the cheapest rates around and I make updates fast. And, the big kicker....we only charge for time spent doing something. If it takes 5 minutes, it is 5 minutes billed. we also are doing a breed association...

    have you ever done this?

AJ, Your story was great to read and think about after the fact, but I can just imagine myself doing the same thing. There is something about cattle that won't go where they are supposed to that only makes us want to push them and prove we are going to win!!! Unfortunately my dad found that...

    have you ever done this?

Ok, so who has ever lanced an abscess and cut a little too deep or long?? I just did that. I thought to myself.....I think I just killed my cow!! She has a case of lumpy jaw. Vet was out about 3 weeks ago and gave her NaI in the vein and at that time the lump was very hard and in the lower jaw...

Anyone have an Idea how to estimate the monthly cost of an electric Tank Heater?

Is there anything out there in a tank heater that runs on battery? I don't have electricity at my tank and boy oh boy is the ice getting thick when its -5 outside!

What do you think of her?

Brown Swiss were actually started from the Braunvieh a long time ago by selecting for milk.....today they are so different that they have no genetic relationship any longer. Our breed association. did some blood percentage testing of Braunvieh a couple years ago and the results were that...

What do you think of her?

Yes, you are right OFS, there is no other breed in Braunvieh. Braunvieh means brown cow...in German.  The Braunvieh do have a little bit of leather compared to most breeds and this heifer does have a bit more than I would like. Those that are real clean fronted do look very cool. Thanks...

    Holy cow its snowing!

We have close to a foot here and I think it may have finally stopped. But the wind is howling now at a steady 25 mph and wind chills are around -10. I am soooo glad no one is calving right now and wish I had moved my spring calvers home a couple weeks ago where they had some protection. ...

    AI School

My husband went to the Graham School in Garnett, KS. It lasts a full 5 days and teaches preg checking, breeds, animal health, nutrition, basics of doctoring and ends with AIing. My husband thought it was great all the different things he learned in a vast area of raising cattle but would have...

What do you think of her?

Hey everyone. We raise strictly purebred Braunvieh cattle so we don't deal with cllubby genetics (or hair..lol)  but would like to know what you think of this heifer we are selling at Denver in January. She is a purebred Braunvieh that just turned a year a few days ago. She is sired by the bull...

Running a Blower on a 3000 watt generator?

We used that exact generator at Denver a couple years ago and it had plenty of power for a blower and clippers running together.

    weaned calves won't eat grain

Yes, we have them in a small pen and no the grain is fine. We are feeding this same grain to 10 other head of calves that have been eating it with no problems. Thanks for all advice, I am going to try some of the ideas. I do have some probios and some milk replacer that I could sprinkle on top...

    weaned calves won't eat grain

Sorry if this is something that has been posted before but I couldn't find anything quickly when I searched. I weaned 2 heifers 5 days ago. They weigh about 475 each and were June calves. No creep feed before. They are in a pen together and started on grain and hay. The hay is the same as they...

    Frost bitten ears

I don't think it will matter and I do think sometimes it makes it easier for judges to describe the cattle to the crowd. I have also seen bob tailed cattle being shown and to me that may be more noticeable but also didn't seem to affect their placing.  I do know bob eared cattle take a huge hit...
