    Bonham Show Cattle

I've never dealt with him, nor have I met him, but he definitely has a reputation for placing quality cattle with quality feeders. I have friends that buy at least 1 calf a year off of him, and obviously they are happy with what they get, because they keep going back. I would just about bet that...

    Politics

After reading all the posts on the airing, it made me think. How much does politics affect the outcome of shows in your area?

Pumping/Airing of Showsteers-Any way to control this?

Interesting discussion here. Probably one of the best that I've read on here in quite some time. This is the reason I'm a steer planet junkie! In my opinion, the answer to the original post is probably not. Is it ethical? That is for you to decide. If you do it, don't tell me about it, because...

    GUTS??

Are you mixing the two together on show day?

    Paul Clapp

That's kind of what I was after when I asked my initial question. I guess that's what I should've said.

    Paul Clapp

A fellow by the name of Paul Clapp from Iowa is supposed to judge the Oklahoma Youth Expo in March. Does anyone know who he is, and what he will like/use?? Thanks

For us oldster's- What were you like in high school?

THis is a pretty neat topic. Made me reminisce a little. I graduated high school in 1990 in a class of 111 people. Even in that small school, there were the little "groups". I guess I was in the "ag group", although I was able to interact with just about everyone. I sure did alot of stupid...

    Soundness

How much are judges this year discounting animals that can't walk? Seems like I've seen a bunch of cattle lately that look really good when they're standing still, but when you get them on the move, they are FAR from fluid in their movement. It's almost like they see a big butt and pretty neck...

    Lots of hair

Lots and lots of things going on this fall, or else we would have shown at NOC, and go on to Perry. I honestly don't think we will make it to a show before the AGR, or possibly even into January.

    Lots of hair

We have a fall born steer that will show as a fat this spring that has hair like a yak. O0 We are working hair quite often every week. Have any of you clipped your cattle this time of year for no other reason, than to speed up blowing time after rinsing? Thanks

    Leroy Brown

My daughter has a steer out of Leroy Brown. When he's just in the pen, he's more like a pet. Loves to play with us and likes being scratched. Once you break the halter out, he's a different steer. Hates the chute, as well as blowers. Never tried to hurt anybody, but he's very nervous, the whole...

Mats or NO Mats for your trailer?

Josh- IMO you can't have too much cushion on your trailer floor. Shavings are cheap. Lame cattle are not. I'm thinking about trying the stuff that's on the cool room floor about 8" deep in my trailer on top of the rubber mats.

    elite trailers

Two reasons that you see alot of Elite trailers in Texas, is they are made in Oklahoma City, and the second is that Texas Trailer Ranch (Elite dealer)does a great job of traveling to shows to show their product off, as well as servicing their customers. If I ever need another trailer, they will...

    Holding one early

I'm thinking about cutting him back to 8lbs of finisher, and about 3/4 of one of those scoops of beet pulp shreds twice daily along with 3 ounces of liquid fat, and then weigh him in 30 days to see where we are, and then maybe adjust again at that time.

    Holding one early

Yes, I had heard that, I just get leary of holding one late, and having him look stale. We showed at our county fair last week, and he didn't eat very well at all, so I thought I would keep him with the same amount of feed as what he was getting then. If he can consistently gain 2.5 when the...
