2011 truck - gas or diesel??

Pretty ridiculous that it is 2011 and we still can hardly get over 20mpg on these vehicles.  Consumerism at it's finest.

Tips & Advice...what would you do?

A utility/mud room is DEFINITELY going into the house!  My husband even suggests having a cheap washing machine right in the garage to was those really dirty clothes...almost the best idea I have ever heard from him!  I think I would like to have some type of boot wash...like those sinks you can...

Tips & Advice...what would you do?

The home will have a walkout basement.  Were just digging out the side of a hill, not building up a hill.  If we cannot get natural gas service out here, my husband is pretty determined to go with Geo.  He is a plumber, so he has worked with it a bit, and seems to love it.  We are in...

Tips & Advice...what would you do?

Deal!  Yes, it is just a huge convenience when you can check the cows from your house...even if it requires binoculars for a closer look :)

Tips & Advice...what would you do?

My husband and I are right in the middle of acquiring land (150 acres), and building a new home/yardsite.  We would love tips, advice, and "what would you have done differently" from others who have been through this process, or simply have a yard setup that they wish they could change!  We...

    Synchronize Estrus for AIing

No doubt about it, go with Estrumate, and CIDR's forsure.  I believe I have heard that cystorelin is the better GNRH as well.  If you can, I would probably rather go with a two shot Estrumate program and breed off heats instead.  It is always more gratifying to be breeding a cow that you know...

    Thinking of a name change

AI'ed 5 cows, and got 3 heifers (so far), out of the cows I wanted heifers from the most!  Looks like a good year so far as all I had been getting was bull calves in the previous years.  I know this is a pretty small number of cows to use, but I am happy!!  I wrote down some pretty specific heat...

    Red variations

Then you have the light colored RA cows with the black muzzles, eyes, etc.  Strange.  You have to wonder where this comes from?  Then there is dark red, cherry red, and very rarely, an almost black red.

    Gestation Information

Does anybody have any good links of progressive gestation info on cows?  Photos and sizes of each month, etc.  I can never find anything online, but maybe someone knows of a good University link?  I know some of the vet books have good descriptions and photos, but I don't have access to one at...

Who thinks this is the same calf????? I am not impressed!!!!

The tag in his ear in the video is an RFID tag....ready for the sale barn.  This is all fishy.  Unless you were able to get a hell of a deal on the calf, it is definitely odd that you dumped him at the sale barn so quickly.  It does look like the same calf, plus he seems to have the same dopey...

    Skidsteers/Bobcats

Well for now were only looking to have about 10 cows around, and eventually maybe 30 or so.  We are planning on building a home and doing a load of landscaping.  I know it would definitely help there!  We could also rent it out for extra income.  I certainly know my own family members would...

    Skidsteers/Bobcats

We are planning on moving out of town in the near future and are wondering what would be best for us.  We are going to need something to haul bales, clean corrals, move snow, and can operate in below zero (-25 degree celcius) weather.  Do any of you have experience with skidsteers?  What...

    Photography - "Fixing pictures"

Before and afters of a could bulls I just pictured.  -20 degrees (celcius) plus wind up here that day.  Lots of snow on their backs, plus freshly processed straw...you know what a 2yr old bull does in fresh straw!  This is an example of what I do when "fixing pictures".

    Denver Bulls 2011

From the video's and pictures I really like the looks of Easy Rider....just a really well put together, solid calf right now.  The kind of calf who looks like he could compete in the show ring with many other breed, and also produce great steers and heifers.  Pedigree seems like he wont...

Kudo's to the fact that they put his video up at least.  Judging by the video...they didn't do much PS'ing to his photo.  I think they just took something distracting away from the background.

    Photography - "Fixing pictures"

I shot about 25-30 bulls for a catalogue last January.  The operation was really short on help, so they didn't get the chance to blow the bulls off before I pictured them.  I DID remove much of the straw off the bulls...but that was IT!.  Some of them just had specks of straw or tag on them...

    Victorias Secret

High Five to you.  I don't know how many times I hear that stupid "assless" thing, and want to smack the person who says it.  Like really??  Find me a pair of chaps WITH an ass, you idiots!! I think that quote may be one of my top 5 pet peeves.

My First Try at Video (I'm no Brad Hook) Clark Club Calves Agribition

See you there too Ryan!  I will come say Hi.  We will have 2 (as of today) RAxSM steers as well.   Going to help halter break tomorrow...sometimes that sister of mine likes to slack on that part, lol. Posted a couple pix of your competition ;).  These are from early Sept when they were still in...

    DSLR cameras and lens options

Keep your f-stop low (under 4, about 3.2 seems to be a good spot with a 2.8 lens.  Keep your ISO as low as possible (200), and you should be good.  If its getting a little late (dark) just bump up that ISO if you have to.  That should let more light in.  Your images might be a TINY bit grainier...
