    Pastern Problem

Great description of what we should not be selecting for in a breeding program. I see too many that fit into this category.

    Daddy's money calves???????????

I think Daddys Money might prove to be one of the next great bulls to come along and I'm also waiting to see what he'll produce.

what's your favorite Chi-Influence bull to use on heifers?

I also think ZNT's Triple X is an awesome choice. Great udders and a lot of maternal. He is your cow maker that can also be double registered..

what's your favorite Chi-Influence bull to use on heifers?

I-67 might prove to be a good calving ease bull. I would check to see how the calves are coming.

    BPF girls of summer

OK Sim, I really liked lot 17. She was my pick of the whole sale. Do you know what she brought?

    Commercial focused Maine genetics

There are plenty of options out there. I think some of the percentage and even purebred Maines are superior and can offer maximum results. I personally like the solid colored versions, black or red that have been bred for the important traits. Some of the calving ease specialists are extremely...

Bushy Park Farms Summer and Fall Born Sale in Marietta, OK this Sat.

Looked at most of the vidoes. Really liked what I saw. Did anyone have a favorite?

    Gucci

I know when ZNT says two months then the calf is actually two months old. Love the look and design.  I think he could end up in somebody's show string. Really high qaulity calf and should look super at weaning. A little different twist in pedigree. Can't wait to see him in person.

    question on breeding

I have to agree about a well proven CE bull. Be patient, especially on her first and even second calf.

Keep as a bull or steer him?

Great looking cow as well. I'm usually the one on SP that says keep him a bull. This guy also needs to stay the way he was born if he is sound structured.  I think he'll work on a lot of different cows.

    breeding thoughts

She has an interesting pedigree and looks good in picture. I like some of the already mentioned sires for calving ease, especially I-80 and Gucci. Mercedes Benz should help to compliment her chunky design as well, and would stack some really productive cow families of Maine genetics. I might...

Charolais heifer- is she worth hauling around?

I also like how you have been showing us the progress of this heifer. Wish more would do this. This heifer appears to be unique with her over all dimension along with having good angle in her skeletal structure. Extremely soggy made. I would like to make her a little more refined through her...

    Opinions on this heifer!!

Nice! From the pic she looks awesome. Don't think she needs more bone, JMO. With that pedigree and if she travels well you are in business. A featured heifer in the up coming BPF Sale is an I-80 x Walks Alone. They also call her awesome. Lot 23.

what is the best option for breeding i80 hfr

I-67 is low birth weight.  I don't know if this is the best option but it would be interesting on paper. Lautner also says he has a more practical hind leg set. Jesse James is a calving ease but he is awefully straight made in the photos. Might have a structure issue? ... A sure fire calving...

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

So the experts say... Actually the Black heifer (the one being discussed) is already linebred Black Maine genetics ( 3rd, perhaps more, generation Maine x Angus x Chi). This is why when she comes of age, I was just suggesting you might want to use an outcross bull (one with less % Black...

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

I don't feel a need for particular genetics to always go back on outcross genetics . It depends on the genetics themselves and how you feel about their need to be repeated within a pedigree. There is is never a formula when it  comes to linebreeding or even using outcross material. It simply is...

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

Well, hard decision...I-80 already goes back to one of the very best Dr. Who cows. I do like the black heifer's genetic makeup. She could work on total outcross bulls that have little Maine and no Dr Who genetics. Maybe something with some Charolais. Both good girls, IMO.

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

I think the most important issue to consider in this situation is the genetics on the cow side. This is how I would make my decision. I do think I-80 is one of the most important Maines to come around in a long time. Just match up the maternal and make your pick that way or buy both. I...
