    Bismark or Brilliance?

Saw Brilliance this past summer on cows... Hands down my vote... Guy is just flat good, really no holes to poke in him I thought.

Bojo Heifer...What to breed to this spring?

After seeing Brilliance @ Damerons this spring, I wouldn't hesitate to suggest him to anybody. Super sound, big topped, roomy middled, big foot, loads of red meat, and he seemed to pass most of that on.. Northern Improvement is more than proven.. .. I guess if you don't like the idea of Angus...

    Ncta 100 cow program

Not enrolled personally in the 100 Cow Program, but I am a 2nd year APS student with the transfer option at NCTA.  I STRONGLY suggest contacting Dave Smith and/ or Jo Bek for more information.  If you'd like, I could get you in contact with a few close friends that are 3 year students for the...

ET Calf born 28 days early!

The last 3 calves we've tagged at work have been 33, 27 & 23 days early... Two of which were ET calves (the 33 & 27 day babies)... On the flip side, we've females that are late and show no sign of calving anytime soon... This weather seems to be absolutely NO help either-- 107 in Curtis when I...

    Input on breeding this donor

If her carrier status is unsure, Eye Candy is a 'no', as is MOP... I really like the few Benz calves I've seen out of cows with HW behind them.  Also, saw Serious Business in Denver a couple years ago on display with a few progeny, not sure you'd have considered him? -Sam

What's been going on in the basement of the Angus Association

That's awesome!! And I'm thinking the recap of Nationals that views August 8th will be a good way to 'open' things up for the association!... I'm excited to watch both!! :) -Sam

    Breed associations and genetic defects

Red gene carrier... Wild type color gene... ;D We all know the AAA has taken the initiative and set rules regarding the carrier status of all known defects, and that being said, I can see & understand both sides of the argument... Personally, I like that they don't allow papers to be issued...

    Destination Ahead-- Trainwreck??

As I was setting in the tractor today discing up wheat stubble, I was listening to noon markets & they happened to have a report about cattle numbers and projections... summarized, the US herd inventory is at the lowest number its been since they started keeping records (99.4 million head), and...

    Foster calf

Not exactly sure how this will be taken on the forum, but we've done it for the last 5 years & have yet to have a cow reject a transplant calf-- I even transplanted a 6 week old calf onto a cow that just lost her 3 week old one.. After a cow has lost its calf we'll hang the calf up & skin it...

    Hair Wizard

I bought & used the new comb while in Harrisburg last week.  Comb was really good for gluing tops & fins on the legs.. I was hoping MAYBE it could help pull up the hair on the fronts, but it unfortunately did not help, if anything I almost thought it hindered the hair that was already in place. ...

    Infected Brand

First suggestion I'd have (mind  you I'm no vet, just going off experience & relating it to other 'similar' wounds), get her in, rinse it out/off & make sure the brand is clean.  I'd then follow it up with Catron; it's an aerosol that we use after cutting bulls & I've used it on the leg of a...

    Embryo Transfer

If you're close enough, I strongly suggest using Terry.  He's done my implants past two years and is the gentleman doing my flushes this year.  Great guy, great with the cows, knows, understands & loves what he does (until he has to deal with me.. then maybe he doesn't love it so much.. hehe)...
