    Which BULL TO USE??

He's about 90 minutes from Hawkeye and I've already suggested it.  I've also suggested he test all his suspect cattle fot PHA/TH, a $37.50 test from Pfizer (blood or hair).  Both suggestion would help tremendously, right!

Now that everybody has put in their two cents, and that's all that some of it's worth, look at genetics.  Most people are just regurgitating what bull theyve heard sired a winner here or a high seller there.  Or who looked the best at Denver.  Few of these bulls are proven.  If you want to look...

New Sire for 2013 - I Da Man

Can't answer the first question but I believe he had a BW of 91 lbs.  Contact Executive Sires: http://executivesires.blogspot.com/2013/02/new-sire-for-2013-i-da-man.html.

    Which BULL TO USE??

You missed the point.  Even if we could all magically give you the perfect mating.  And even if you have a live calf with the right parts.  There's a lot more to it.  You're obsessed with finding the perfect bull.  And the next day it's another perfect bull.  And then another.  You've got to...

    Which BULL TO USE??

Buying semen won't win you the County Fair.  You've been given recommendations.  You need to do the work.  And that starts with nutrition, breaking, fitting, conditioning and a little luck.

    Which BULL TO USE??

You might have missed one of my earlier posts: The number one breeder of World Champion Halter Horses in the AQHA (grew up showing steers in the Midwest) got where he is today because he has assembled approx. 40 top cookie cutter mares.  He has had a number of stallions over the years yet no...

    Which BULL TO USE??

    1.  I got lucky. 2.  I had the cow power. 3.  I did a lot of leg work. 4.  I found a bull I liked that possessed qualities I wanted in my herd. 5  I knew he was special when I saw him (He stood out in my eyes). 6.  It took me 6 years. 7.  I worked hard. 8.  I got lucky.

New Sire for 2013 - I Da Man

If you're wanting females, I'd agree with you on Man Up.  Who Da Ma x Meyer. The only fault IMO, even though he has a high neck and good shoulder, he's a little pain fronted, compared to the other bulls.  I'm going to breed a heifer to yet another Who Da Man offspring, Mr. Who Da Man 322Y (2012...

    Which BULL TO USE??

I just don't see it.  I was picking bulls out of the ABS catalog to breed my cow to each year starting when I was age 8.  Even made the short trip to DeForest with my family to see the bulls in the flesh.  At age 14 I picked a bull that changed my show career.  There was no internet.  I looked...

New Sire for 2013 - I Da Man

First off, his sire Who Da Man, ACA National Champion, multiple ACA National Champion sire, and many time top 5 ACA Show sire of the year is not some clubby bull out a commercial cow that someone tries to pass off as a "donor" because they've sold a few county fair steers out of.  Who Da Man...

New Sire for 2013 - I Da Man

Never saw a Who Da Man (bull, heifer or steer) I didn't like.  Consistent sire with the bloodlines.  Not like so many that are by some "hot" bull and out of a commercial cow we know little about.

Almost afraid to ask... breeding suggestions.

Breed what you want.  You've got some nice cattle.  keep up the good work.  But if you do want to dip your foot into the pool, you've got some cows that would probably spit out some nice club calves but keep with older, proven, higher % Chi bulls (offspring that will be at least 6.25%) that'll...

Liked the cow.  Really like her sire and dam, too.  Very nice.  Any more on the horizon?

I would have to say yes to the Naughty Pine recommendation.  I was going to suggest that, too.  But I thought someone would call me mad.  My dad thought the same way as we do.  You can see him and his offspring her: http://www.trauschfarms.com/provensires.html And again, Heat Wave should work...

The other plus is that Heat Wave's heifers, when bred to commercial, crossbreed or other registered breeds will be high enough % Chianina to be eligible for Jr. Nationals, Louisville, Fort Worth, etc.  The calves from sons, or sons of sons are not.  And if there are no commercial or market...

What, $100?  When you buy semen and then breeding certificates, in some breeds you pay that or more.  And why breed to a son, or a son of a son?  He's the one who started it all.  And he's still doing it.
