This has worked well for me. heat detect and breed for seven days, on day 8 shoot with estrumate, heat detect and breed off of the observed heats, usually 48 to 72 hours later. it gets most of them and lowers the times through the chute and costs of drugs.

Have you attended any of the Stock Show University, Kirk & Ky Stierwalt's, or Chuck McCollum's clipping schools. Look for one in your area & start there possibly. If nothing else you'll probably meet someone from your area that may be willing to help you out.

Do the Jazz calves have enough grow to them? I've never seen one with a whole lot of performance.

Nina if you are feeding your calf 2% right at the get go you are feeding him about double what you should IMO. You should star him out at 1% of his body wt. and slowly add from there on until you get to2 to 3% of his body wt. Once he's eating well add  a half a pound of feed mid week and then...
