    Random, but.. Jackets?

You could certainly try Norton Printing & Signs Plus out of New York Mills, MN.  I am sure she would send you the jackets once made.  She has made things for Dew Drop Farms (big lamb producers) and for 4-H events as well as shirts for a open beef show.  The first year she made shirts for us they...

    Led chute lights

Not to knock Sullivans but these are not the expensive Sullivan lights are they? I know at MN Beef Expo one lady just went out and bought LED Xmas rope lights. Wondering how those would work.

    General Livestock Knowledge Bowl

My daughter has been on a general livestock knowledge bowl team for a couple of years. They have a lot of fun but really struggle. Does anyone know of any games that can be played to help study. I just think they rely on memory to much and my daughter said she is not good with memory. She learns...

    Getting weight on market heifer

We possibly plan to breed her in the future but our main goal is MN State Fair if she makes it.  If you saw a pic of her mother you probably would be able to understand a little more.  Mother was very very competitve all summer long as a market heifer but she was not real big but had lots of...

    Getting weight on market heifer

We have a market heifer that currently weighs 680. Is it possible to get her to 1050-1100 lbs by July 21 and what do you recommend for feed. She is a little shorter in structure so keep that in mind. She has plenty of gut but I guess a little more wouldn't hurt.

    Creep Feed

What is your end result with these calves. Is it the sale ring or a breed sale or do you just plan to market at a sale barn.  We are a commercial/Simmi/Angus cow/calf operation and we market most of our calves a feeder heifers and steers put we do sell a small handful as show calf prospects. ...

    Feed suggestions

We have a market heifer and a market steer. The steer is approx 850 and heifer is about 775. The heifer is a little short and has a shorter cannon bone which I understand is somewhat in the genetics but she is a beautiful heifer and the steer has plenty of bone but needs to start filling in...

How small is too small - hip height

We have a very nice April 2016 born market heifer but I am worried a little about hip height. She does have that beautiful show steer look but I am a little afraid of hip height. Just for a little background she is an I-80 X Monopoly X Friction. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Inner Ear Infection???

Another update on the market heifer.  We found out the heifer had mycoplasia but this weekend we attended the Minnesota Beef Expo and in a very hard class she placed third but he had a lot of great comments for her.  We felt we should have won the class but we knew going in we would be first or...

    Inner Ear Infection???

A little update on our market heifer.  We talked to our local vet and they guessed mycoplasma as well.  We started with a dose of Micotel and then three days later a dose of Draxxin.  She was really looking good after about a week on the Draxxin but just to be safe we gave a dose of Baytril.  I...

    Online Sales

Thanks for the comments everyone.  Will I have to agree with you.  The last few years we have stuck to one breed and it is mainly what we raise at home but I know several families in the area that will bounce from breed to breed just to find the easy class to compete in.  We have stayed in one...

    Online Sales

Thanks for the comments medium rare.  I would love to hear more from other people.  I will admit we got caught a little in the club calf game.  We have a small herd of about 50 pairs and a few have club calf background which we are trying to get out of.  Although we have tried to sell a few in...

    Online Sales

Just curious what everyone's thought are on all the online sales this year?  We have been watching quite a few this year and it seems that most of the club steers and heifers are going dirt cheap. Do you feel this is just because the cattle markets are so down or are the calves just that low of...

FINAL UPDATE FROM ROYAL Heifer difficult to setup and won't stand still in ring

One thing we have done as of late:  when we are working on them in the chute we try to make sure they are in their show stance as much as possible.  I do realize when you are working on legs this is always possible but it seems to help them get use to how they are suppose to be standing.  This...

    Inner Ear Infection???

We have a calf that has a drooping ear and has trouble with balance and being able to stand properly.  It was fine yesterday morning when my husband went to work but when we both came home it had the droopy ear and trouble standing properly.  We had a few calves with snotty noses so we gave...

    Heifer kicking at belly

We have a show heifer that seems to kick at her belly a lot with her back legs. Does anyone have any idea what it could be. She doesn't appear to be sick.

    Spring of rib

I understand Ultra Full is for lower body and flank. I may have the wrong term when I say spring of rib. She is plenty deep she need to blossom behind the front shoulders and widen out throughout. I understand some of this will come as she gets farther along but I don't know that Ultra Full will...

    Spring of rib

Thanks for the comments. The heifer has been bred for 41 days. I am guessing she will be out state fair trip even though we haven't had our county fair. She will be about 101 days bred for our state fair so I am hoping being over three month bred this will help. We would have liked to breed for...
