    Market heifer short strides

Thanks for everyone's comments. She has gotten far better in the last few days and is moving much better. I had my husband watch me walk her at a little faster pace and he said he thought she was moving awesome. So hope all is well.

    Market heifer short strides

My daughter has an awesome market heifer but she is a little short strides. I feel it is because she is so muscle bound but she also just had hairy wart cleaned up. Also MN winter was not nice so they did not get much walking in and were on cement all winter until about 3 weeks ago. Do you think...

Hairy Wart and popping in the pasture

Can hairy wart cause a calf to pop in his pasturn? We have a steer that pops in the pasturn really bad and last week we had the hooves trimmed and the hoof trimmer cleaned up hairy wart and wrapped the hooves. We took the wrap of yesterday and when my daughter took the wrap off she cut the back...

    Opinions on simmental steer

This is a Dream Catcher x Monopoly Simmental steer in MN they must be legit 1/2 bloods to show and if questioned they will blood test. Please give honest opinions. We had a calf similar last spring and we sold for 2000 and it has been doing very good at recent shows. Is this calf worth working on?

    Raising Money for cattle show

We are trying to raise funds for an open class beef show to be held on our fairgrounds this summer. Our fairboard has donated $500, as has our local salebarn. I have received a few other donations and will be possibly receiving a few more but am still a little short of what is needed to put on...

    Good steer weights

Thanks for the info VC.  We also have a market heifer that is weighing 1083 today.  She is a Monopoly x Friction so her hip height is not real high but she is a tank.  We dont think she can weigh over 1200 but we think she is about done with the big weight gain.  I certainly think we do not want...

    Good steer weights

We have a 1/2 blood simmi steer crossed with a Heatwave. He currently weighs 1187. Our county fair is the third week in July. I believe July 24 show date, but we are shooting for State Fair last week in August. Are we at a good weight or should we be backing off. Keep in mind we do some jackpot...

Grow and Shine vs. Flair and Hide and Hair

I am wondering what everyone's opinion on Grow and Shine vs Flair or Hide and Hair. I believe Flair is a little cheaper than Grow and Shine and Hide and Hair is about the same. I also understand nothing takes the place of good old fashion hard work. Keep in mind we also have a cooler and once...

    Livestock Scale

I think I may miss informed everyone it is the digital part I have a picture of but it also includes the platform. I just don't want to spend 750 on something that doesn't work.

    Livestock Scale

Has anyone heard of the Central City Portable Livestock Scale Model 600? We found one advertised on Facebook.  He only had a picture of the scale part, which doesnt look to bad but it was mounted in an old barn.  He did give the dimensions on the platform which will work for us but was wondering...

    MN Spring Jr Classic

Anyone out there know how the simmental steer class was placed at the MN Spring Jr. Classic?  I am looking for a placing on a calf we sold and would like to know how he placed, as the family that purchased him told us he did not do well and they let him out to the feedlot until about three weeks...

    Inducing a Cow

I am not too worried. Hubby is actually more worried than me. She actually has a lot of muscle so this does concern us a little but I really didnt want to induce early anyway as both my daughters are getting confirmed Thursday evening so didnt want to have to walk here every hour on the hour on...

    Inducing a Cow

Just for everyone's info she is bred to Dream Catcher as we are looking for nice simmi steer or Foundation Simmi heifer with a little more height on the heifer. I think if it is a steer and takes on mammas traits it could be a kick**** simmi steer prospect.

    Dyeing Shavings

We are having an open class beef show at our county fair this year and part of the proceeds are going to support breast cancer awareness.  We would like to dye the shavings in the ring pink.  Any body have suggestions on how to do this and is it costly.

    Inducing a Cow

We have a cow my husband is thinking about inducing.  She is due on 4/19/. Last year she had bad luck and calved 5 weeks premature and we did everything to save the calf but could not. It was an I-80 and was a very tiny calf.  This cow is about as round as she is tall.  She is a Monopoly x...

Open Class Beef Show Ideas - Showin for a Cure

I am the new organizer for our county fair open class beef show and I want to try something a little different.  Our local vets assistant was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and I would like to have part of the proceeds go to the Minnesota Breast Cancer Coalition in her name.  I already...
