    houston steer show

I watched yesterday online...and agree-the Charolais is a contender.  Went and watched in person today.  The AOB is a player....Kaiti Robinson had that buddy on Q this morning.....looked AWESOME and Hoge loved him (it seemed).

    AI Help/Question

Ok...I had my cows AIed on 1/3/12 by my Vet....brought them home a few days later and on 1/10/12 I saw 2 of the cows riding/mounting each other-neither stood for the other but they were mounting.  Could this be just an "extra rush of hormones" or what?  Any ideas/information is greatly appreciated.

    MONOPOLY BIRTH WEIGHTS

My Monopoly calf was a TRAINWRECK!!  Weighed about 140lbs....was huge HUGE huge.  I don't know what the deal was...the cow has a low BW EPD but guess it was just 1 of those freaks of nature.

    Breeding Question

I use the CIDRs too.  I am a SMALL breeder getting started too.  I have 4 cows and 2 heifers for this upcoming fall breeding season.  I run the females to the vet and he puts in CIDRs and shots...then take them back about 5/6 days later and he'll remove CIDR and watch for heat so he can AI. ...

    Foster calf

I had a cow loose a calf 3days ago.  I was thinking about going to the sale barn and getting a calf to nurse her.  Is this a good idea...do you think it'll work?  Also, if so, how do I get her to accept the calf and nurse it on her part?  Any ideas and information is greatly appreciated!

    Feeding Program

Just wondering-how do all of you feed your bred females (cows and heifers).  I've heard of people who only put out hay, some who just leave them on the grass pastures, and some who supplement grain....what has worked for you?  Any information is appreciated.

    False Labor?

Ok-this is weird here....my cow is 11 days out from due date and yesterday evening she started contracting about every 10mins.  There is the usual muscus/goop coming out but nothing else.  During her contractions she never pushed or anything.  No mucus plug/sac came out, no blood, just the clear...

    Shorthorn plus steer at nationals

Guidelines for the 2010-2011 show season: All ShorthornPlus animals must be 50% Shorthorn blood concentration or higher to be eligible to show at a sanctioned ASA show. *xAR51405 Champion Shorthorn Plus Steer at Junior Nationals Well, on that note-then someone either messed up, cheated, or...

    Shorthorn plus steer at nationals

I agree...color doesn't mean anything when it comes to "crossed up breeds" like a ShorthornPlus (I have seen cream, yellow, red, black, roan, blue roan, and all sorts of colors for shortyplus cattle).  And frankly-the calf does have a shot of shorty in it....yes it is small (at least) but it...

Who showed in Seguin at the Pecan Classic today?

That yellow calf is pretty dang nice I might add <rock>.  I am not 100% sure-but I don't think Cuatro went to BBB with the yellow calf.  See y'all in Gonzales on Saturday folks.

Who showed in Seguin at the Pecan Classic today?

@ herf4ever-if you are the calf I am thinking of....you have a pretty nice looking hereford steer.  I will say this-Maulsby did use muscle, but not the excessivly muscled calves.  Another thing I was interested in, and he stuck true, was he used structurely correct animals all day.  If there...

Who showed in Seguin at the Pecan Classic today?

Yeah-it was still a pretty solid show regardless of numbers.  There were some nice Americans....the Brangus was grand american and the Gert was reserve.....both owned by the same little boy (I believe last name was Poe-maybe wrong though).  They were stout and pretty dang good...I'd love to own...

LOOONG short trip to Sedalia, MO

:'( :'( That is so sad about that heifer....poor thing.  When I was in 4H way back when-we had a pig that had a leg fall through the trailer floor on the way to the county show.  We had a sift then too....the ag teacher that picked up the kids pig told the show board it was his fault, etc. so...
