i agree with most comments here.  it all has to do with the time you have on hand.  my vet has routinely told me the Lut is essentially ineffective for less than 10 days, so to wait atleast 10-12 days so that time and drugs are not wasted.  the thing is if you give her a shot of lut at 10 days...

i'd have to agree with the longhorn suggestion...some strains of hereford may come in second.  beyond that i think simmental and original maine anjou.  for heartiness through the times...chianina, it is one of the oldest breeds in the world. ..i.e. fullblood Chi.

if she is less than 10 days bred, there is a possibility she will not abort.  if a cow is over 32-35 days bred and one wants them to abort, it helps to combine Lutalyse with Dexamethasone, usually about 10cc's or 1cc/cwt.  good lock, i hope it turns out ok.

This is pure speculation based on the bull, Analyze This.  When I saw him in 2005, he was, what I thought, one of the more powerful looking bulls I had seen in person.  He was just built really well.  I know nothing of his calves, just know he's used quite a lot. My wife suggested GCC Chilled...

i don't recommend bulls that aren't proven.  a recommendation is different thant a suggestion for investigation...but i doubt you'd care to even know the difference. looks like Pat Wolfe didn't have any problems.  Maybe jbzdad had some weather conditions that caused his cows to hork it on in...

Just out of curiosity, I live in Montana, have both purebreds and fullbloods, these are unacceptable calving conditions to me.  Are these 'easy pull, 115# heifers' the norm? If so, why in the hell would someone want to propogate more genetics like this?  If these kind are favorable, then yes...

I agree, I had three full sib bulls, one natural two ETs, they weighed 106, 124 (natural) and 137. Another flush had two heifers at 96 and 98, a bull calf at 130 by c-section. The bigger/ or more 'capacity' one of my recips has been, the bigger the calf.  If I had my druthers, they'd all go in...
