    Olhrich/Wents bull sale results

Was there, just got home this morning, top end was pretty decent.  Middle got a little softer, and it was a short middle then the bottom fell out.  They felt a little inclement weather hurt 'em. Can put up some more details later on if any one wants them.

    Part 2 Blizzard

Well at least looks like its let up some over your way, still giving it here, not to mention we were outta power from 9 last night til 10 this morning.  Haven't even attempted to try feeding cows yet, doubt they'd even want to come outta hiding anyway.  Tomorrow should be a fun day of cleaning snow!

    Dakota Classic

Found that Adrenalin bull quite intriguing myself.  Agree that there does seem to be a good maternal focus on the animals in the sale, enough to get me to make the journey down for it.

    Char cows and color

It's not really a conspiracy theory.  I have seen quite a few "rattails" on feed, most are exactly that poor doers.  Some would feed alright, but as a whole they would end up the tail enders of the group,  and they really didn't do well through the winter.  Not sure how they fair in warmer...

    Altithermal

They seem to ignore any evidence that doesn't seem to fit their stance.  My personal opinion it's because there is no money to be made off a naturally occurring cycle, but there's big bucks in the global warming theory.

    Suggestions and Improvements

I'll agree the location part of the profile being mandatory.  There have been a few animals on the classifieds I may have been interested in if I had a clue where they are located, even if it just a state/province.

    bedding down bulls

We used to bed the heck out of our bull pens through the winter for just that reason, frosty testicled bulls are hard to sell.  Nowadays we keep our herd bulls out on about 20 acres of grass for the winter and seldom give them any bedding, but they have some pretty decent shelterbelts to snuggle...

Alcohol mixed with Junior shows, 4-H, FFA, etc, etc,....not cattle related

Think I'd have to agree with the point that if it as youth event it has no place.  I liked the point about drinking at a school play, you don't see that.  I didn't see it at any other 4-H organized and sponsored deals, just at the shows.  It didn't seem to sit right with me as a teenager to see...

I'd agree, the special ones seem to have "it" right away.

What do you think of her?

Sure like the heifer, think you could use her even in a clubby program.  My family used some Braunvieh's way back in the mid-70's,  they kept virtually every female, then turned Limi bulls on them.  That was the foundation of our purebred Limi herd, and wow did that influence ever carry on down...

Eyes On The Money, worth using?

Thanks, that sounds like what I was thinking breed him big, which doesn't really work for me,  might just give him a try anyhow on the couple bigger framed cows.

Eyes On The Money, worth using?

What can anyone tell me about Eyes on the Money?  He has just become available to us in Canada and wondering if he's worth buying.  The one thing that concerns me is size, I realize he was a younger calf - so he looks a little puddish in his pic- but has anyone seen him after he grew up a...

Do "High Powered Catalogs" scare people away?

The one thing in all these catalogs for bred sales that frustrates me is the listing of one, or several clean up bulls and no where in the entire catalog is any hint of a pedigree mentioned on them.  It is hard enough keeping up with all the pedigrees - especially in the clubby world - of the AI...
