    Blaze of Glory semen sale

I don't know about all those who bought the semen, but since Chris Polzin has a pretty well-known embryo center, I would bet he isn't going to just sit on it.

    Weaning Show Calves

We now wean every thing at 4 months, whether it will be shown or not. We tend to get better growth this way. Also, we just had a 13 month old female calve who was bred be a bull the same age! Not taking that chance again!

    Help with tail problems!

Just prime time. Tail adhesive can turn it into a sticky mess in a hurry and in this case, less is probably more. I would say though that when you are ready to clip it off and perhaps paint over it, setting it with a good coat of prime time is a good idea. If you do pour on wormer, just remember...

    Aluminum Livestock Trailers...Opinions Please

Since my family has a livestock trucking business, we have a few trailers. We love our 8 x 24" 4 Star for showing. It tracks great, is quiet riding, and has held up really well. If I could change one thing, it would of course be longer!!! For more heavy use and ranch work, I would recommend...

    Help with tail problems!

Horse tail hair works great because it is so strait and coarse. I have found that it works well if you part the existing tail head hair, lightly glue up the ends the horse hair, and place it in the void. Put in about one inch sections at a time and pull the sides back up and glue into place. It...

    calving help!

No. It was the only calf we have lost in over 5 years. Since the huge hole in his abdomen seemed to be the only thing wrong with it, we did not persue it further. Based on what our vet said, is was the most likely cause of death. Also, a necropsy did not seem reasonable as it was a crossbred...

    calving help!

Yes it is. But if it tears out forcefully, it can leave a hole in the calf's belly. It is meant to break or tear outside the body and dry up and fall off, not rip internally. When ours happened, we sewed up the hole left in the navel, or rather where the navel should have been. This, however...

    calving help!

I'm sure someone like DL could shed more light on this, but it sounds like a deficiency in the cows' diets. Being that the rate of the issue is so high, I can't help but think it isn't just bad luck. If all the calves were pulled, I might think that was the issue, but they way you described the...

Some exercise might help. I know it sounds counter- productive, but it may help increase his appetite.  (dog)

    bull calf

I would tend to agree with the sale barn suggestion or  wait and castrate route. The tech who does our bull evaluations and testing will tell you how important proper growth and placement of the testes is in production. Things like twisted testes, which this sounds like this case might turn...

    What is your biggest?

Not sure if twins count, but we had a huge foundation simmi cow calve out twins at 85# each back in the day. It was so long ago, I can't even remember who the sire is,but the cow was a massive animal. It was about January 5 and we ended up with two very large broken colored simmi bulls in the...
