    clubby bull to improve disposition?

I agree, even with the part about "she must be one... good cow to tolerate her behavior".

If you ever make it back down here, feel free to stop by!  That "barge" almost has to be the Ferry that crosses over to Cave In Rock, IL.  That ferry crossing is even closer to me than Salem.  It's located in the county right next to mine, probably about 30 minutes away.  My father in-law has...

    drought

I'm in northwest KY right now & it's still pretty terrible.  We did get some rain last week, but it's bad.  One of our main ponds is completely dry & you can barely tell that it ever held water.  Several others are extremely low.  BTW, what are pastures?  Is that like a corn stalk field?  ??? ...

WAY good Northern Improvement angus heifer

I have April & May calves that are smaller... they might out sell your bigger calves & my bulls have sired plenty of show winners so far this year (both steers & breeding stock)... but, who really cares... this thread is not about your calves or mine, it's about a real nice heifer that somebody...

    Which is best pic?

My unprofessional opinion... She looks longer in pic #3, but she also looks bigger in the brisket than in the others.   She looks more broody, with a slightly straighter top line & the rear leg is set better in #1 & #2.  Also, she appears to be standing at the best camera angle in pic #2 & I...

    Adjusting birthdates on Purebred cattle

Things could be better & they could be worse.  That's life.  I'd been thinking about calling soon anyway.  Probably taking Doc up to Cindy's old place this Wednesday, so I may call while I'm on the road.

    Adjusting birthdates on Purebred cattle

I once saw a SP post that listed a later DOB for a weanling calf than the actual posting date of a previous SP post, made by the same poster, which showed a pic of baby calf marked with the same unique color pattern.  Makes you go hmmm...

What state or breeder has the best or most Red Angus Cattle

If you want something like Ohlde's in a Red Angus package, Kit Pharo & his co-op partners have Red Angus genetics that are certainly shorter legged, deeper, thicker, easy fleshing, etc.  In fact, several of his Red Angus bulls actually have Ohlde genetics bred in them.  One of his Red Angus...

Official 2010 Steer Planet NCAA Tournament Challenge - SIGN UP HERE

I didn't do the Steer Planet bracket, but I picked Kentucky & Tennessee to meet in the championship game with Kentucky winning... anything can happen, but that's not looking like too much of a stretch right now.

Thoughts on Murray Grey Breed for Show Cattle

Actually, the Murray Grey breed IS NOT 100% Angus, they are also Shorthorn influenced.  To be technical, Murray Grey cattle are more or less Lowline Angus (early 1900 Australian Angus) crossed with (early 1900) Australian Shorthorn.

    Heat Wave females

The heifer in your avatar had a heifer calf today by Kryptonite (Zeffirelli son).  Also had a real good looking bull out of her dam the other day too.

    Heat Wave females

I'd breed a Lowline heifer to a Lowline for the 1st calf, BUT... FWIW, a friend of mine had a neighbors 2,000+ lb. Simmental bull jump the fence & bred his purebred Lowline.  She stuck.  The 1/2 Simmi was her 2nd calf... she calved unassisted & had a nice BWF heifer calf.  Half Lowline cows (not...

At what point is just yelling uncle and giving up acceptable????

We used to calve in early Feb & I finally had enough, put my foot down & told my dad no more... we moved our calving to mid/late March & I liked that a lot better!!  Tornadoes, storms, fire, etc., have taken care of several of our barns, so there is no good place to calve a group indoors.  We...
