    Joke of the the Day.......NC

A lady was just stepping out of the shower when she heard someone knocking on the front door. She pulled a towel around herself and answered it. It was Bob her neighbor, he stammered  and stuttered and finally said " If you drop that towel I'll give you $800 dollars". She was shocked by his...

Best put down a Judge has used

Last summer the judge at our state fair open show berated my son because in his words" he didn't appreciate the tailhead and flank additions on his steer".  Mind you this is at the Illinois State fair open steer show. My boy had been waiting all summer to learn how to build up a tailhead and...

    Happy Thanksgiving from Afghanstain

Thank you from everyone here in the Land of Lincoln. Hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving and a safe return to the Land of the Free and you folks make it the Home of the Brave. Frosty mugs on me if we run into each other.

    Help getting rid of ringworm?

I've had good luck using A@D ointment mixed with tea tree oil and generic athelete's foot cream. The A@D keeps the skin moister than FluidFilm and seems to stay on better. The tea tree oil is good for hair growth.

    Bucket Heaters before fitting

Tell Dad you won't be the only ones if it's cold. I usually take a feed pan and heat the water first then put cans in . The feed pan is less likely to tip over. Also keep a towel handy wet hands on a cold day and you know the rest of the story. Good luck at Louisville.

    Calf manna

Fitting is Critical and I need help with fitting my kids calves

These guys are right - work that hair at home. It makes the calves and the kids easier to work with at the show. And when you finally find that fitter thats right for your family, he'll give you tips on things you can improve on. When you get them clipped up for the first show it gets easier...

How long to wait on check?

I wouldn't wait very long before I told the world this dude's name . You might not get paid either way, but putting his name on this " bully pulpit" might save someone else some grief.

    heated room

I built one last winter. It's 12x20 and I heat it with an L.B.White heater. Used it all the time and didn't burn 200 gallons of L.P. Just insulate the heck out of it . I also put a small exhaust fan in the wall to move some fresh air in.

Bidder fraud at Vicklands online sale?

I think someone's going to find this cat laying in a corner somewhere with a big knot on his head. Sounds like he's had it coming for a while too.

No misters at Illinois State Fair

I personally don't care one way or the other. I do have a fogger that uses less than 3 gal. per hour on highest setting. That's not very much water. My main complaint is the power. I carry an  8000 watt generator everywhere we show because the fairgrounds we go to don't have the capacity to run...

No misters at Illinois State Fair

A friend and I were discussing and cussing new ISF rules. No fans in the tie-outs. No misters or cooling aids in the barns. What does everyone think?

    Covering Aluminum Chute Side rails

A friend of mine just painted his aluminum side rails. Looks to me like a great way and cheap too.

    feed grinder q

I traded this spring. I bought an Artsway with scales and really like it. The company is in Iowa and still produces farm machinery.

    Sullivans Ice Box

Just put a fogger on a cooler and it works great at the fairs. Two large bags of ice will keep cold water going for two days.

Old cowboy down, please pray for him

He sounds like a tough old bird, for sure . Our hearts go out to your family. And our prayers for his recovery. Just keep a couple of his best and tell him it's time to repopulate. I'm sure in 80 plus he's seen and survived worse. Long live cowboy's.

    10x10 air conditioned cooler unit

I would also invest in an electric lock that will open the door in case of power outage.
