I always love looking at older pictures of cattle! It's amazing to see how breeds have changed and also not changed over the years! Where do you find all of these books?

Really uniform bulls! I like them both! I'm considering sampling Optimizer this Spring and seeing calves like that sure helps! You still liking yours?

I agree. You cant spot reduce fat, on people or cattle. Boy I sure wish we could!  (lol) Only way to make any kind of fat go away is to reduce the energy in his feed, as XBAR stated above.

I agree. Don't want a heifer too over-conditioned before calving. If you're wanting to feed her good, roll it to her after she calves. Do you have CE and BW EPD's for the bull you used? Has he been used on heifers before? From your comment, it sounds like you have used him on mature cows...

WOW! Nothing better than a cow that can raise a calf as big as herself and still maintain her condition! Btw, your scenery looks awesome. Wish we had grass like that around here this time of year!

I would personally recommend Simmental, but I might be a bit biased! One quick way to start is to follow the sale circuit or get involved with a breeder and buy good ones from the start!

Shorter in the front end? Like his front legs are shorter than his rear legs? Not enough neck extension? Too high of a tailhead? Pictures would help out if you'd like a more specific answer!
