EXT is the bottom right corner. If we dropped 40 of EXT's relatives from the analysis, he would no longer stand out. It is simply an issue of sampling (not evidence of mixture).
Attached is Figure S15 from Decker et al 2012. http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2164/13/606
The data set has samples from 1955 to about 2009.

The animals in blue are related to EXT. The EXT family was the most heavily...

I have had some conversations about Native Shorthorns with Roy Lovaas. In fact we actually did some DNA studies comparing Shorthorn, Milking Shorthorn, Native Shorthorn, Irish-influenced Shorthorn, and Lincoln Red...

I seriously doubt anyone's reporting techniques would pass a CLIA inspection! :)
Two weeks after reading this post, I still can't believe you would compare to CLIA...
I think whole herd reporting helps with the Garbage In Garbage Out problem. But, at the end of the day, the quality of the data is dependent on the breeders reporting it. I think a strength of Angus's BRS reporting system (http://www.angus.org/Performance/AHIR/PerfGuidelines.aspx) is that they...
How many of you have heard about the new research into the environmental impact of cattle? How many of you have heard about the new documentary "Cowspiracy"? I discuss in my new blog post.

To be honest with you knabe most producers aren't using the current tools correctly. See http://steakgenomics.blogspot.com/2014/06/economically-relevant-traits-for-new.html We would see more improvement if breeders quite double counting (select on actual BW, BW EPD, and CED at the same time)...

A Steak in Genomics: Bruce Golden gave a great talk about economically relevant traits (ERTs) in the beef industry. Golden really challenged the ways breed associations, seedstock providers, and commercial producers report and use EPDs. Be sure to read this post and leave your comments...

I believe the BRD team is using the same or similar methods as the rat developmental liver transcriptome paper that Taylor's group published. http://physiolgenomics.physiology.org/content/physiolgenomics/45/8/301.full.pdf
So, I believe they are using FPKM.
I don't think they are looking at RNA...
