    ABS AI Clinic

I took one in morehead, Ky about a year and a half ago. It was $300 dollars, I thought it was well worth the money. Very educational and hands on

Work in the Show Cattle Industry

Have you considered the department of Ag in Colorado? Idk about there, but in Kentucky our dept of ag has a great shows and fairs department. They put on 6 preview shows, 5 or 6 district shows, 3 junior livestock expos, plus work the Kentucky Beef Expo, state fair, and NAILE. And that is just...

    Low WW high YW

I may be looking at it the wrong way, but how would that give an advantage to the cow/calf producer over high weaning weights? I see that there could be more calves on equal input (or the same amount of calves on less input), but the requirements for the cows are going to be the same. So you...

When should we wean a prospect?

I agree with obie105, we use day weaning quite a bit and it works really well, I would definitely try that

    Clipping front ends

you could also use a set of blades that don't cut as close, medium blending blades at the shortest, and you still have to be careful with those. maybe something like a 5/8 blade https://www.sullivansupply.com/cart/tx/p-68-andis-58-ht-blade.aspx

    Whole Corn vs. Cracked Corn

The link was posted as i was typing my comment so I hadn't had time to read it before my post was made, so I suppose I stand corrected. Also I guess my second paragraph is more about my opinion of feeding show cattle in general. I think a lot of money is wasted on feeds just because of the name...

    Whole Corn vs. Cracked Corn

Ruminants can definitely digest processed corn (cracked, ground, steamed) better than shelled corn. Just like some have already stated, the digestive system of cattle can't break down the shell. We feed a lot of cracked corn. However, we have recently started feeding some ground ear corn. The...

AI Suggestions For Moderate Shorthorn Plus??

Sounds like there have already been a lot of good suggestions. We raise shorthorns and for the most part make it our policy not to use shorthorn bulls on our heifers (something I hope can eventually change), but we like to play it safe. I agree with Angus or Red Angus for the first go around.

    Hey color experts!!

No, an animal only has 2 copies of any given gene so it is impossible that Yellow Jacket has all of 2 red genes and a dilution gene I'm not sure, but I take it that the alleles coding for red and black are separate genes entirely than the dilution gene? meaning it would be possible to have...

Almost afraid to ask... breeding suggestions.

looks like I need to invest in some walks alone semen for my self. On another note, do you have a lot of galloways? Don't see alot of them where I am but they seem to be good cattle, I like the pics of the ones i have seen on here.

    Kleen Sheen

Ive used it some before, it seems to be a good product but I've never used it religiously. How much do you typically use on one calf per day? We care currently feeding 11 calves, 4 or 5 of them that may be worth dragging to some shows on regular occasion. Clean sheen is $28.50 a gallon, it just...
