Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational Open Steer & Heifer Show

I live in central ky and didn't know anything bout the show until last night. There was a Kentucky Dept. of Ag. show in Meade County today also, I would say that hurt attendance alot. i was at the Meade county show, but would have been interested in the jackpot show if it was on a different...

    Shorthorn bulls

We have some Shorthorn heifers we are getting ready to breed and have been looking at some different bulls to use. We were recommended TM Gus, The Bartender, and Rock & Roll Train. We have never used any of these bulls and I haven't seen many calves out of them that I'm aware of. Does anybody...

    Opinions on Angus Heifer

We had a bull calf several years ago that was a full sib to this heifer. He was extremely gentle. We showed him at the Ky state fair as a cow calf pair and the judge said he was the best bull he had seen all day. That was in August, he died that September from black leg and he had been...

    Opinions on Angus Heifer

This is a registered Angus heifer that we raised and currently have up in our show barn. She is out of Traveler 004 and was born in May. We have several other heifers up and she doesn't have the best disposition so we are debating wether or not to show her. Feel free to give me your honest...

If you won a 5 million lottery prize.

I would spend half of it on whiskey and women and just waste the other half lol. No, I would buy some land, build a huge show barn, then buy some shorthorn heifers that would make the ring shake when they walked in.

    Hottest new breed

Not sure about any actual numbers, but in Kentucky Shorthorns and Herefords seem to have grown a lot over the last couple of years on the show circuit

    ADG and finish?

We live in Kentuky and show at a lot of county fairs. I have never been to a show with a requirement for min. ADG. However our hometown fair does have a contest for ADG but no min. is required.

Did you know mkt heifers at NW had to be open?

They recently added maket heifers to the show at the Kentucky State Fair and they preg check all of those heifers. I agree about having to slaughter heifers, but if I got that nice sale of champions check I'm pretty sure I could be ok with it.

    building a new barn

I noticed a few people have mentioned feed storage, we use old, out of order deep freezes. they are great for keeping out the rodents. We buy them from a friend who sales appliances for about 25 or 30 dollars, so its a pretty cheap method
