    What Simmental Bull to use?

LKF, You comments are received and respected.  Were these calves at 120 LB outliers?  What was the average birth weight?  What was the size of the cows he wa used on?  I am asking to see if hehis birther weights and calving characteristics resemble the ols school fleck bulls used in our area. ...

    What Simmental Bull to use?

I agree I would not use Broker on a heifer-not by a long shot.  I also would not use him on birth weight problems.  This is what I mean by he is  not for everyone. That is not to say he could not be used to good effect in the right situation.  I have seen food results out of South African Fleck...

    What Simmental Bull to use?

Mr. Hoc Broker has good show ring cred and put out some good calves.  At $ 125.00 a straw he isn't for everyone. A bull that has a 4.9 Frame does everything you want is CHERRY CREEK NYGARD 1U.  The only problrm is that he is a polled full fleck.  If you have black cows this shouldn't be a problem.

    Simmental Breeders, please help

CJB, The big problem with that list is that if the bull is available he is over $ 30.00 a straw and the Op wanted bulls costing no more than $ 30.00.

    Simmental Breeders, please help

Don't discount SRS Right-On as the price is right.  If you are going on cattle Visions make sure the semen is exportable to Canada. If you want access to beeter bulls you will have to pay ore money per straw.  In the reality today where 2 year old commerical bulls are going for $ 7,600 on sale...

    Simmental Breeders, please help

Even if you go and do an EPD search on the CSA website the only bull costing less than $ 30.00 that meets the requirements is SRS Right-On 22R at $ 20.00 at a straw.  I didn't mention him because he is an American bull on an American website- not Canadian.  Many of the other bulls are either...

    Simmental Breeders, please help

Look at Bouchard Livestock for a good selection of all types of Simmental bulls.  The bull that most closely fits your criterion is OLF Odin  U5.  He is available for $ 30.00 a straw-if you buy 30.  The biggest problem is meeting the $ 30.00 a straw price for a proven performance bull.  Other...

    Flush Option for Angus Cow?

That clarifies things a bit. You want better power, growth and muscle for this female.  Do you have access to Young Dale Xcaliber 2X semen?  It seems that he gives you what you want in a known package. If I couldn't get Xcaliber I would look at his son Nozeka carried by semex. By the way all...

Opinions, suggestions for breeding 3/4 char heifer

Does this heifer have any color (buckskin, smoke?).  Do yo want a buckskin calf? Your heiger is well enough bred that a 7/8 calf will be marketable just about to anyone. Here is the data on SRK Canyon 2K: http://www.semex.com/di/beef/i2?lang=en&beef=view&view2=MC339579 Wrells has a light tam...

Opinions, suggestions for breeding 3/4 char heifer

Did you record this heifer with the AICA?  If not I recommend you do so if possible. As stated before Wrangler is doing great on Firewater daughters also claving ease bulls like Ledger and Big Ben would work as well. I do not think a dark red calving ease charolais bull called SRK Canyon is a...

    First Calf Charolais Heifer

Iowa, The bulls that Show Stpper and I have mentioned are your best bet to get a good marketable calf you can show and easily get semen.  All of them are backed up by strong breeding programs and have calves that have won shows.  The questions I asked are to narrow the choices down to make sure...

    Butterfat Content Galloway Milk

When the Univesity of bought the ranch at Kinsella in 1960 for around $ 15.00 an acre abd the synthetic breeding program was founded.  The idea of a Purebred Charolais other than white would have been a scandal.  red chaolas we not deamed of.  They were just happy to get purebred bulls to use...
