    Harkers Domination

Maybe with the price at $25 they thought they could sell more semen. I know when I see an unproven bull selling for 40+ it's a big turn off for me.

    Heat Detect vs TAI

I use a CIDR + prostaglandin and visual heat observation on my heifers. We consistently get 90% of the heifers to respond and a 70% conception rate first service AI. I usually AI 25-50 heifers a year and schedule them a week ahead of my mature cows so we have time to dedicate to watching heat. I...

    Meyer 734 on heifers

Considering his Calving Ease EPD is -8.5, my answer is no.

    A.I. setup questions!

I tried that for the first time in December. Results look ridiculously good on my mature cows and my young cows look like they will get the same results as the 7 day. But I've been in an exceptional drought for the past year so I'm not ready to make a judgement based on this year. If my results...

    A.I. setup questions!

There's so many options available now that it's hard to recommend a protocol to use without knowing more details about your circumstances. On heifers I like to use 7 day CIDR + PG. We consistently get over 90% of the heifers to respond to the synch and 70% conception first service AI. I give a...

    San Antonio Grand

All I know at this point is the Charolais grand and AOB reserve.

    Simmental color questions....

I agree to an extent but until order buyers agree color pattern will remain as a selection criteria in my herd.

    simmi breeders in oklahoma

I'm pretty sure you are referring to the Willis's. Super nice people and good cattle. http://willissimmentals.com/ There's a few breeders in north Texas if you're willing to go there. Circle M Farms http://circlemfarms.com/ Double M Simmentals http://www.doublemsimmentals.com/home.html

    Simmental color questions....

Dikeman's Sure Bet has good numbers but not a fan AT ALL of his calves phenotype wise, although he does have some nice sons available. Dikemans Double Down maybe, but I haven't seen any calf reports on him.

What to breed this heifer to ?

I used Sharper Image this past December breeding cows. I only used him on a handful. TNT Dual Focus is my go to CE bull. 2 years and haven't assisted a single heifer bred to him. By her looks Shear Force would probably work, but because he's deceased I don't know what the price of his semen is...

    Simmental color questions....

    1. I have no idea on Voyager. I would ask the owners is they have had any spotted progeny or know of any reports. 2. From observations, I've come to the conclusion that a high percentage of bald face cows carry the spotting gene. I would not breed a bull that has the spotting gene to a white...

Anyone on here with knowledge of ABS red simmental bull RED IRON?

I don't know if you're still looking for a red Simmental bull but my uncle just bought an interest in this guy, Hook's Yukon 80Y. Sired by Beef King and out of the Mika donor. He's going to be collected at Origen. Really solid EPD profile and great performance indexes. You can see his pedigree...

    Upgrade or American Pride ?

Depends on the cow, but at the moment Upgrade is more proven and the semen is more affordable.

when will the show industry start to reflect the production side?

I figured that going in, but none the less ridiculous. We bought 20 really nice open brangus heifers at $1300 a pop. I hope they're going to seem like a steal next year.

when will the show industry start to reflect the production side?

I find this highly amusing since I just finished up watching breeding beef shows at the San Antonio stock show. I used to show cattle 10 years ago and am a seedstock breeder now producing bulls for the commercial segment. The most disturbing thing I noticed was how obese all the breeding cattle...

Adkins Mr Right On- Simmental bull question

First I've seen of him. Looks pretty good. Not loving the combination of low growth and milk, the rest of his EPDs are ok. Looks to be a little linebred too. He would be one I'd want to see calves out of before I considered using him.

Simmi Breeders what do you think? would you use him?

Umm...the question wasn't whether the bull is better than what we have at our own place, just whether we would personally use the bull in our herd. Chill.

Simmi Breeders what do you think? would you use him?

All my In Dew Time's have been exceptionally sound as well. The only structure issue I've had in 20 calves is one has a bit too much angle to his pasterns.
