Yup you're right A lot of cowmen would also agree that building your maternal genetics is more important than bulls the cows are bred to make the steers.

    Bull Talk

I'm just thinking it might take more than a generation. Maybe not but I'd say choose the qualities that are more important. If you want them solid black on Shorthorn cows either the bull has to be homozygous black or it would take more than a generation to get that result consistently. Some...

    Bull Talk

Ok so you want to 1. downsize. 2. fix the udders. 3. still be THF/PHAF. 4. pretty them up.  5. Smaller birth weights. 6. Be black hided 7. be good enough to make steers or heifers on 2nd calvers. 8 No PB Maines.? That narrows it down and someone like me would have to think about that.

    jose vs daddys money

We put all our first calf heifers in with a calving ease angus or angus cross bull because we haven't had great success in AI-ing first calf heifers but all the reports I have heard on Daddy's Money is they come out around 70lbs. He would definitely work on 2nd calvers.

For what you are trying to do, both will work and the calf will can be registered maintainer.

    Widest Clubby bull out there?

OK makes sense. Looking at the pedigree on the America Idol bull, he ought to make some thick ones.

    Widest Clubby bull out there?

There are several bulls named American Idol. With Draft Pick not that far back, how does Walks Alone make them moderate. I'm just genuinely asking since this thread is about moderate thick bulls

Bull with good feet/legs and muscle...

Best part of the thread Ig commented on was how steer jocks will change the names just to give them that winning pedigree. I believe there are a lot of great bulls that aren't promoted by the elite in the business.

    Breeding suggestion.

I showed my wife the picture and she said, "who is that chubby little turd!" So are they selling semen on this bull?

    Breeding suggestion.

It's getting the time of year when cows are calving or almost done and time to start thinking about AI-ing so I'll be the first; I have this cow that is a Slick 50XHooDoo. She's 37.5% Maine and 25% Charolais. THF and PHAF. Her calves no matter who I've bred her to all have enough foot size and...

    TH FREE MAB calves

:o This bull has got to have close to the best front 1/3 of any MAB sons that I have seen. Maybe not the stouted bone but I like him. Who owns him and are they selling semen from this bull?

    TH FREE MAB calves

So are your cows have some mass and bone too them?  Seems to me that a lot of people are breeding MAB to Charolais cross cattle.  From his picture, I would guess flatter made cattle.  Would you say so far that THF MAB's calves are similar to his sire's?

    TH FREE MAB calves

Yeah I was just looking at that bull when she started the thread and wondered because I have 2 THC cows. She said she's had good luck with MAB so she used his son. I'd like to know what she's using MAB on. I guess that's hijacking the thread.
