    Man's the Word

@Gargan. The cow has always been sound and has never had a calf that was unsound, out of multiple bulls.  However the last two Man's the Words out of her have been ideal in their leg structure. The cow has dinner plates for feet and is very good fronted. Maybe a little bigger than most club calf...

Maine folks - need help selecting a bull

PB doesn't mean 100% maine. If the cow is exactly 50% maine and the breeder is trying to get to 75% maine then most of the PB Maine bulls out there just won't cut it.  I believe a bull can be 87 or 89% Maine and still be considered PB.  89% and 50% only brings the % up to 69.5%. Just my 0.02.

    No Worries calves

This calf was born today. No Worriesxmonopoly bull calf. He's 30lbs bigger than we expected and a little more leg than we expected out of a short chunky cow. He's long bodied and fronted. Do they come out as so so calves and then come on and look good as they get older. Before anyone mentions...

    Suggestions for breeding

You are going to have to search far and wide to find a bull that is 100% Maine.  Everyone that I searched is not.

Just For Fun - Poll and Debate

I'll play along. Business Done Right is on a tear as a clubby bull. I've never seen a structural wreck out of Young Money. I'm a big fan of No Worries if he's bred to a clubby bred cow. Daddy's Money if the cow is a larger framed power cow. Big fan of what Whizard is doing heifer wise.

    Man's the Word

If you are talking about Chris Wilson's Man's The Word, he's a full sib to MAB. I didn't know if he was ever registered Maine. He's eligible to be registered Chi because of Monopoly. (Before anyone feels like correcting me, the Chi association will register any calf if either parent is also...

    No Worries calves

I don't but if I was to guess, I would say between 1300 and 1400 pounds. We should have a No Worries calf out of a Monopoly cow born at the end of this month.

    No Worries calves

A No Worries steer was the Grand Champion at the Utah State Fair a few years ago. He did a fair amount of winning in the Rocky Mountain Junior Show Series in the same year. Supposedly, No Worries works best on cow/heifer that are clubby bred.

    Darn show heifer!

Thanks for the reply. The reason came down to the company that made the ration switched from their summer molasses to their winter molasses. I'm guessing adding some oil (soybean maybe) so that it would flow better or not freeze. Luckily we were able to get another bag of the same feed with the...

    Darn show heifer!

Anyone have any ideas on getting a show heifer back on track? She was doing great on her feed but we hauled her to a show in Utah this past weekend. We also opened a new bag of feed when we got back and she won't touch it. I gave her just beet pulp and she'll eat it just fine but add in a little...
