    Burch Livestock

Burch Livestock in Casper, Wyoming is having their spring sale on June 1st on https://wlivestock.com/Willoughby/Sale/burch060117-1 If anything give calves like Lots 10 and 17 a look.  We feel that they are pretty darn good.  Any of the steers would work at the county level on up.  This group has...

Hereford heifer what u think ?

A couple more options to go with, I personally like Mr. Custom Made. He looks like he should make great females. Another to look at is Good And Plenty.

    Smokey heifer calves

Thank you for your interest and comment. In all seriousness, we will put her in our fall sale unless someone wants to buy her private treaty.

    Smokey heifer calves

We're pretty happy with them. It's crazy how similar they are. The Solid Gold is 43% maine. The BDR isn't registerable because Young Money is less than 50% shorthorn and the Uptown Funk is 37% simmi

    Smokey heifer calves

Lol! Thanks. Yeah surprisingly they're all like peas in a pod. I half expected to get comments that they run downhill. Just the way they're standing.

We are thinking of AI-ing to Comfort Zone (hoping for a heifer) this May before breeding her clubby down the road

    SAV Bismarck Female

Thank you!! We were just glad to get a live calf out of our heifer. We know he's not a barn burner but we think he should be at least a competitive county fair and some state fairs steer. Our BismarckXChopper heifer is milking better than a lot of the 2nd calvers so this calf is getting plenty...

Bulls for second calvers to make show steers

I have also heard that I-80 has sired some larger birth weights every so often.  Its too bad this thread stayed at the forefront for a while so everyone could see it. I think someone will have had a large birth weight calf or bad experience out of every bull that was suggested.

    Our calving so far

I'm not sure. We bought her as a bred heifer. She's not registerable Shorthorn or maine. She's THF/PHAF. She could even be 1600lbs. She puts a great front and a lot of bone in her calves. If I could change anything about her, I'd like to see her deeper middled. The calf she has her this year is...

    Newbie Looking to get started

I would suggest getting a good maternal base whether it's  Simmental or just good functional females that are super sound, will milk and lay down and calve on their own. Some that could handle larger birthweights. EPDs are great but you kinda have to halfway throw them out the window when you...

    Our calving so far

Thanks!  We don't have a lot of cows (with a few more to calve) and this year we are really heifer heavy.  We're looking at which ones we'd keep as replacement heifers.
